Its MY town, MY club and without OUR money we are doomed - remember those days we were in admin ? ... Irrespective of all the doom and gloom on here, I will renew 3 x tickets. Everyone who does not renew - and/or attend matches - unless finances or geography dictate - is hurting OUR club. Shame on you ....
I call it an illness or life-long affliction - blame my dad, granddad ans his dad (and I`ve passed it on to my lads. Whilst ever circumstances permit I`ll renew.
But it is THEIR business. And that's who you're giving your money to. Some people prefer not to be short-changed.
They did the same at Nice vince, same noises, same sound bites that people bought into, ask the Nice fans what they think of our trusted owners.
Very well thought out and written mate. There are those amongst us who will not have a word of negativity spoken, no matter what happens at oakwell and there are others who like to speak in an objectionable way and offer their thoughts. My lowest point was admin and the doyle tenure (i go back to 1976) however i neither like nor trust our board. I hope that they can regain our trust but i feel that unlikely. For alleged professionals, i feel they havent brought much to the table, or less than i thought. We would probably have been better having local business people in charge but with a decent PR / CEO maybe mansford like, as a mouth piece, keeping the infrastructure and amending "the plan" accordingly. Fans are hard to please at the best of times and you never dream of keeping everyone satisfied but just be open and honest with the fan base but never ever treat them with no respect.
I agree with your sentiment, but crowds have always dropped a bit when we’ve struggled, there’s no ‘shame’ in losing interest, it’s a human trait. It’s ok saying the club will suffer if some people choose not to commit their money to the club, but how much value for money do you feel you got from your last season ticket? There’s no way we should be prepared to put up with any old rubbish just so the club doesn’t ‘suffer’. The club is a business and like all businesses, has to work hard to keep its customers happy. I don’t think they’re doing that. They’re not even making the right noises.
No no no no no. I'm self employed and I always run the risk of losing customers if I do a poor job. If I don't renew then I'm not aiming personally to "hurt" the club I've supported since 1968. It's because the product I am buying into is now poor and I don't want to spend my money on lacklustre goods, or maybe I can't afford it, or maybe it's the 100 mile round trip I do to watch said product. There is absolutely no shame in choosing not to renew a season ticket. It's our personal decision. If it improves then I can choose to buy back into it. I don't buy Kitkats, Mars bars, Cadburys cream eggs, packets of crisps, and lots of other consumables any more. The size/weight/quantity/quality has diminished so much in recent years that I refuse to spend good money on them. I feel I am being ripped off. Sounds familiar?
Tosh We complain when we cannot "afford" to buy experienced championship players yet not renewing takes us further away for that (enviable) point. Support your club. The new owners have not endeared themselves to us but I still feel they have the club at heart - they are businessmen and would not dilute the value of their assets deliberately. Unfortunately they are doing so accidentally by not giving us a warm feeling .........
