What would you class as a cheap loan?

Northen Rock are very competitive

If you buy The Sunday Times they have a "Best Buys" in the financial section, and Northern Rocka re up there.

Sometimes the best buys have some hidden nasties, but I believe the Northern Rock was has reasonable terms i.e. if you (are lucky enough to be able to) repay early they don't hit you with a fee, which is a bit of a favourite hidden charge with loans. Now you might say I'm not going to repay early ... but should you be unlucky enough to need a bigger loan in a few years ... you guessed it, if you've already got a loan they'll say you need to consolidate (and another provider wil as well) to get the loan you want, so you end up getting hit by a repayment charge for taking the bigger loan.

ask em, what the early repayment fee is, don't take my word for it ... it might have changed!
