There aren't any 'benefits', being a stakeholder is not like a shareholder.

A shareholder, owner, director etc all own a share or if you want, a stake, in the club.

A stakeholder doesn't own a stake, they just have a vested interest in the business. ie, they have something at stake, for example a season ticket holder has the money that they have paid at stake so they care about what the club does.

Even somebody who has no interest at all in football but happens to live on Grove Street is a stakeholder because what happens to Barnsley FC has an affect on their life. If we got promoted to the premiership then they'd have to expect thousands more people walking past their house every saturday. If we went out of business then they would expect life to be quieter etc. Likewise whether or not BFC builds a new west stand affects them so they have something at stake.

    An interesting theory but .....

Foster is 25 and has played Championship football for several years!

I'm not trying to 'silence the fans' .......

.... I'm trying to get my head round the fact that 90% of folks on this board are shitting themselves about our squad on 23 JUNE 2006 because we have 'missed out' on two unknown footballers who are touting themselves round clubs to get a contract.

****** to Johnson and Foster, we have a budget to work to but we will get some players in sooner rather than later hopefully but for gods sake, give the club a bleeding chance, the hangovers have barely worn off from Cardiff and Barnsley's finest fickle fans can't wait to put the boot in

A weaker squad than we started last season with

is highly unlikely keep us in the championship.

    Our finances are greatly improved.

    Pre season training starts soon.

    Friendlies start soon.

I would have thought it would be prudent to bring in new blood sooner rather than later.

I cannot believe that anyone is surprised that the supporters are concerned at the lack of good news.

I'd just like us to sign some players so we have a squad....at the moment we aren't doing that

Option 2, but we can't even do that!

What you are saying is right. But you have to admit that the message that seems to be coming out of Oakwell is worrying. We have missed out on a striker to a lower league club that is supposed to be skint ! Of more concern is that Ritchie is saying we're covered defence wise if Kay re-signs. FFS we've only got 2 centre halves in the entire squad (3 if you want to include Hassell). We were short last season even when we had Carbon, but now we're up a level against some very potent strikeforces...come on !
I'm all for the club being prudent but we have to be realistic. We rode our luck to get promotion (yes we did and no one was more delighted than me) but we do not want to throw this opportunity away by going straight back down. We have to give ourselves a chance of staying up. For me that means bringing in a MINIMUM of 4 players. A centre half, two midfielders and at least one striker.
