They'll not get any better if I stop going...and anyhow, despite the negative ***** spouted on here, I've seen far poorer sides represent us.

This is probably going to sound very sad, but being at Oakwell has given me some of the most joyous and emotional days of my life. The second goal of the game against Bradford City brought tears to my eyes, tears that welled again throughout the whole of the following summer as I contemplated life as a supporter of a Premiership football team. I will remember that moment for the rest of my days and I live in hope that I will experience the same again.

Of course those days are gone, and the team we watch now is a lifetime away in class and ability, but I still go to every home game because, if I refuse to lower my standards, if I refuse to pay my money to watch a poor side with little hope that those day will return, then I will extinguish even that dying light of hope. If we do not see through the bad times, there will be no chance of better times one day. Those who doubt the power of hope need to remember how they felt that day in the knowledge that if we turn our backs on the team, any chance of a repeat could be gone for ever.
