Barnsley - there were earlier games but the one that really sticks in my mind is Cambridge away in round 3, 1982 or 83 I think, because it was the first away game I went to. And we lost 1-0.

Home v Bradford Park Avenue 1970 (with question)

I remember being by the tunnel as Bradford came out, even then it was tradition to greet the oppostion with a grumble but everyone around me started cheering. "Why are the cheering Dad" I asked. "The captain is an old Barnsley player" he answered.

Who'll be first with the answer ???

First Barnsley FA Cup memory was being at the cup replay against Stoke City in the 80's when we won 2-1(?) and Stevie Cooper did that back flip. Stoke filled the Kop and all had day glo pink panthers!

First Cup final memory was Everton V Liverpool in 86 when the secured the doubled with Ian Rush and Craig Johnstone on target. I went out and bought a penny floater straight after the game from Lamb Lane shop in Monk Bretton and became a Liverpool and Ian Rush fan for about 3 years! I was only 7 at the time tho and soon saw the error of my ways!

Greatest FA Cup memory was the win over Man Utd in 1998 but winning it this year will eclipse even that!

1968 - West Brom 1 Everton 0 (Jeff Astle scored)

My first cup memory for Barnsley was the following January when we drew 1-1 with 1st Division Leicester City (including Peter Shilton & Allan Clarke) in the 3rd Round. Johnny Evans grabbed a second half equaliser, after Len Glover had opened the scoring.

The only player of note I can remember from the Bradford side that day

Was Barry Wood, who played first class cricket for Yorkshire, Lancashire & England.

Mine is the Leicester City 4th round replay at Oakwell.

Leicester took the lead through a wonder goal by Julian Joachim. It looked like they were leaving with a ticket to the next round until Owen Archdeacon leathered one in the last minute from about 30 yards out and it nestled in the top corner.

The tie went to pens and Butler (the dry stone wall specialist) took the P**s in between pens by diving and popping what looked like a inflated "Condom".

I think it was Mark Robinson?? who slotted the final pen home sending us to the next round.

After that game I was always Owen Archdeacon in the lunchtime playgound game. Non of my mates new who he was. ha ha
