"In 1992 an individual honey fungus (Armallaria ostoyae) was identified as the world's largest living thing, having an underground network of hyphae covering 600 hectares/1,480 acres. It was found in Washington State, USA, and estimated to be between 500 and 1,000 years old."

I knew it would be American, they can't just settle for having something normal size can they. Anyway, it was probably built by the Ants.

on the contrary. It was built by trees, that were much bigger, then they spread out to avoid discovery.

They were laughing at the ants as well.

    Yes. It's a honey mushroom.

It's been recently discovered that these honey mushrooms actually belong to a single organism stretching 3.5 miles wide and covering an area equal to 1,600 football pitches.

    Crikey!

Ah, but as you say these things have only recently been discovered. So before that we thought something else was bigger. So whats to say there isn't something bigger yet out there , like a Super Giant Worldeater Ant.

It's got to live somewhere. I find it highly unlikely that it's just floating round eating planets. Sounds like you made it up.

Add a huge tree that it can sleep on and walk up and down licking sap and cutting leaves and stuff, then I'll buy into your theory.

    and win.

    No it's not but

I used to have a rabbit that always chased our dog round the house.

BTW we went to Elsecar Heritage Centre yesterday and they have opened a new shop which I think would be perfect for you. It's called "Sheep Shopping" and sells cuddly toy sheep and border collie dogs.

    Thanks for that

Its not exactly local for Aberystwyth, but next time I am back in 'The Promised Land' I will check it out.

I am moving house next week, to a place with a few small fields, so I might finally get a sheep of my very own. I have however promised my daughter a dog - have you got any recommendations.

    And for the sheep?

German Shepherd - sounds like its got good sheep connections.
Are they easy dogs to look after for someone with no experience of dogs?

As for German Shepherds , they are loyal , brave and intelligent . I've never had any problems with training so,hopefully, you wouldn't either .
