Remember it not being the classiest of places, but didnt see any trouble. I think its one of them places that if you don't know the area, you end up going. Mainly because you don't struggle to get in.

    Brilliant

Went earlier this year - fantastic place and the local birds are really friendly. It's fairly quiet in the afternoon with just the odd hen party and stag do wandering around aimlessly like us. There are loads of boozers and restaurants both in town and down towards the Quayside. Quayside is far better than Bigg Market (Bigg Market was quiet when we went) and in this weather is reminiscent of Sidney. Up-market nightclub "Sea" is also down there - that's where all the celebs go. Good laugh in Buffalo Joe's just the other side of the swing bridge (Actually Gateshead) if you want to embarass the stag. Top quality birds dancing on the bar-tops a la "Coyote Ugly". Get the timing right though 'cos the lads do a turn for the hen parties in between. The Lloyd's No 1 bars are cheaper than the others. Some classy bars down at the Quayside - Pitcher & Piano is one I vaguely remember.

Bigg Market is a bit dodgy - but if you don't mind dodging the bottles it's okay. Quayside is fun.

Absolute quality, best night out on these shores

Go up there at least once a month, coz it is guaranteed top class night.£19 rtn on GNER £1 cheaper than a taxi back to mine from Sheff LOL

I see you are doing two nights which is a good call, two many places to take in for just a one nighter if you don't know where you are going.

For your age group i would probably recommend Quayside(although i prefer Bigg Market)thats where the majority of out of town stags and hen nights head for.Down there you have got plenty of bars and a few clubs.

The Akenside = Large fairly old fashioned looking building from outside, packs em in and i mean packs em in.

Buffalo Joes = As previously mentioned on here,Late Bar located over one of the bridges on the Gateshead side of town, bar staff wearing chaps, hot pants and bras dancing on table pouring shots into your mouth for a nicker.

Baha Beach Bar = Very popular club opposite Buffalo's, popular with out of towners and local filth alike. You get the idea by the name of what its like inside, again birds wearing **** all and 20ft sharks hanging off ceiling. The club is live on Metro Radio i think from 11.

Moving back into town, just up the steep street under Tyne bridge,no trip to Toon would be complete without sampling the Bigg Market.Try these few at the bottom before heading into the market proper.

The Lodge = Split level Bar owned by the poison dwarves that are Ant & Dec(for all you trivia buffs) really busy place even from as early as 7.30,good atmosphere and decent 2 for 1 offers on Corona even just before 11.

Bar 55 = Just to the right down on roundabout, can't miss it,good starting bars for a night out, always busy and safe as houses.

There are some pretty trendy bars(not really stag doo destinations) at bottom of Bigg Market Attic,Living Room and the Apartment(popular bar with the Toon army's over paid players, think Kluivert when he was there)

Moving up,CHAV CENTRAL the little run of bars before you reach Bigg Market,Flares,Kiss and all manner of Chav scum bars full of 15 year olds caked in make up.Avoid

Bigg Market is not for the faint hearted or those wanting a quiet Guinness and small talk. These two are always on our port of call

POP(but now called summet else which helps you loads)two level meat market, drinks offers galore on stuff with vodka(i think it was vodka)that will literally take the plaque of your teeth drunk in right quantites and glows in dark, always busy and full of tarts up for a good time. Also the home of the Legendary GEORDIE DANCER,move upstairs to see em perform the worm and high kicks to a baying mob.

City Vaults = Without fail always call in here before club, pretty trendy by Bigg Market standards, long bar, plenty of areas to stand out of way, dancers on stage grinding steel with stillsaws and breathing fire(i suppose whatever floats your boat)

Main nightclub is BLU BAMBU, very very young crowd in here, this is where the yoof and mid 20's head for just before 11,the queue is long after that and the dance floor packed to capacity, had some decent nights in there.

If you head further up towards THE GATE indoor complex, you will find TIGER TIGER and plenty of other bars,SAM JACKS,LLOYDS and a couple more clubs.

If you fancy starting early on the Saturday evening(assuming you are up Fri & Sat) get taxis or Metro to Osbourne Road,Jesmond(literally 5mins from town). Its bar after bar along this student and sophisticated street, outside drinking at every one.

Head to OSBOURNES for the 18:00 - 19:30 happy hour(241,drinks a £1,half price, free or full price depending on the buzzer you hit just before paying),you will never have been in a bar so busy so early, its hard to believe its only 8 o clock when you stumble out ready for town!! The talent is hot in here and along this road HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

If you fancy something a bit seasidey, catch the metro to WHITLEY BAR for night, its about 20 mins on metro and £3.50.Packed with stag & hens in surreal converted B & B's,a good night is guaranteed.

    Have fun

Nice, I live in Newcastle and couldn't have done it better, although I've never been to most of those places. Glad you didn't recommend the Quilted Camel on the Quayside, as one of their bouncers killed someone recently.

Apologies, the judge stopped the trial and ordered the jury to return not guilty verdicts.
