Never had any breaks, but worst thing is probably when tore my groin, hamstring or thigh muscle. All quite painful to say the least.

Worst injury I have seen, was playing Sunday league a couple of seasons ago, massive 16 stone centre half from Conisborugh Alma went through the back of our striker, 2 footed snapping his tibia and fibia in two places. Actually had a small part of bone sticking through his leg.

When I was 17 I was playing on Sun morning at Laithes Lane in goal. With 10 minutes to go I saved a shot by tipping onto the cross bar, but the bloody thing became datached and fell on my head. I don't remember anything else, but I woke up some time later with a storming headache. Trouble is, I wasn't in hospital but in the old King George pub on Peel Street with a pint in front of me. Apparently I had passed out, but come round and insisted on playing on. Nobody thought to get a doctor. Apparently I saved a penalty while I was supposedly still unconcious!

    RE: Front or back

Front. 3 ops to date, 2 keyhole and then reconstructive surgery, 9 months physio, back to football and then screwed the cartledge on the other knee. I decided to retire.

The other knee is completely screwed, it keeps locking and I need to get it sorted.

    Front for me

The operation was old school! Scars all over the place. 12 month rehab! Totally knackered to be honest!

Pain? O yes! The worst bit was the training afterwards!

    Severed a finger

Not actually playing football at the time but I was working as a Bluecoat for Pontins and was refereeing the Staff vs Guests game. Part of my job was to put up the nets before the game. I jumped up with the net trying to be clever and get it over the hook on the crossbar. I was successful in getting the net over the hook but also managed to slip the ring that was on my finger over it too.

As I dropped down the enevitable happened and the ring came through my finger. Luckilly enough, the ring snapped as I dropped to the ground and my finger was saved.

The weird part is that I remember everything, especially the wonderful hospital staff at Lancaster Royal Infirmary and I never felt a thing apart from a small tug on my hand.

    RE: Front for me

i've got the big scar straight through the middle of my knee if that's the kind you mean. I heard mine snap and thought I'd broken my leg and couldn't actually look at it until some said it was okay. I was just laying there on my back trying to get the ref to stop the game.

Went to casualty in the evening because it didn't feel too good and they told me it was bruised. I only found out a month later when I went for a full medical for a new job and the doctor sent me to the physio who diagnosed it there and then.

The post op physio was painful. walking on a skipping rope thinking every time you turned you were going to snap it again!! Lifting weights wasn't fun either.

I was wearing new boots ...

... and suffered a horrid blister. I was playing for Ardsley Oaks Juniors vs. St Dominics. It hurt for ages after.  In fact I never played well again after that.

I fractured a bone in my foot, ripped all my ankle ligaments to shreds and damaged the tissue in my ankle including a **** load of internal bleeding playing for the bbs team last year, not played since. Ankles cream crackered most probably for good.

    RE: Front for me

Did mine playing tennis. Never felt pain like it! Screamed and rolled around for 10 minutes. But carried on and played tennisuntil the third time my knee felt like it had lost contact with the rest of my leg. Didn't go to the doctors but waited 5 years until i was carried down a ski slope after i thought i'd broke my leg.

It took the spesialist 1 minute to diagnose!

Did you have a large cut down your shinbone where they removed a tendon to rap around your new crutia?

yep and it's still feels numb to touch now. Feels bizarre having a big groove down through the bone.

    Has anyone been sick yet?

I can talk about my own injury but when someone else talks about theirs it makes me feel wierd. I can't watch slow motion replays of bad tackles any more as they make me cringe.

    I'm well tough me.
