    Rugby union.

I love it's values, it's a game built around respect - for other players, for the officials, for supports and for the volunteers.

I love that there is a place for everyone

    - fat kid who the football team don't want - every rugby team will have you, call you a prop and give you an important job.

    - lanky bugger - second row who can catch everything in the line-out

    - mouthy little **** who likes starting fights - scrum half.

    - posh kid with nice hair - fly half

    - racing whippet - winger

    - the kid with no mates and questionable hygiene - full back

I genuinely enjoy ice hockey more than I do football these days.

Sheffield Steelers are playing Cardiff at the arena on Wednesday. Cup semi final, £13, can drink in your seat, a good atmosphere as the arena will be at least 80% full, at least 5 goals, and with the way they've been playing, a reasonable chance of a home win.

I used to go to the hockey in St Petersburg a lot. Great atmosphere and plenty of action, but most of my time was spent trying to figure out where the puck was!

Now I understand the game a bit better, I usually work out who the next player to receive the puck will be, and focus on them. I generally don't realise there's been a goal though until people cheer.

Sounds like this lass who used to go and watch Lincoln with us when we were at school. She wasn't much of a football fan but just went along for the craic. Midweek game against Chester, who brought SIX fans. Needless to say, they didn't make much noise even when they scored. Laura left the game absolutely convinced it had finished 0-0. She only found out the next day that Chester had won 3-0.

Just checked Stars results. I heard at the beginning of the year that they got a good start by beating the Steelers but heard no more.
Unfortunately they went on a 4 game losing run now languishing 3rd bottom while the Steelers are top.
TBH I’ve only gone along once. A couple of years ago v Fife Flyers. It was good but maybe a tad expensive. I really must make the effort to do it again.

They beat Cardiff in the week which is a great result, and one that helped the Steelers who were beaten by Glasgow. If Dundee are anything like the Steelers, you can pick up match tickets reasonably cheap (often £8) but there's a million and one ways for you to part with your cash once you're inside the arena. £5.50 a pint, £11 for a 'supapint', 50/50 draw, match worn shirt raffle, club shop, 'chuck-a-puck'. That being said, the 50/50 prize is often over £3000, and when they do the shirt raffles online, they often sell over 1500 tickets, so I think they've got it nailed down on the commercial side. You can walk all the way around the arena, so you never really have to queue for anything. They're a side our owners certainly could learn a thing or two from.

    Thank for that Archey.
Checking the fixtures and the first suitable will be v The Steelers on Sunday March 6th. £15 for a concession ticket. Hopefully my friend will like to go. Don’t believe she has been to a hockey game so could be something a bit different.
