I believe you're right - but that shouldn't stop me or anyone else disagreeing with it and pinting out the shortcomings of administrators who's salaris are paid in part by the money we invest in the club each season.

It was and is something I could contribute that could add a little to the richness of the culture and history of the club.

A very overlooked, loyal servant to the club, Mr. Spinks. I have a hand written letter from Gordon Shepherd thanking me for some things I sent him in gratitude for his generous contribution to a charity project I was working on with dear old Biglil and Laura. Proper gentleman.
It would be hard for Don to answer every single issue, which is why the fans forum is such a great idea because many people share the same concerns and they can be efficiently addressed. It is possibly too big a job for one man. Interns are one way to go, but I know through experience you can waste more time supervising them than you save by employing them. It could work.

If I were you mate, I would make a detailed plan of action on how you would go about developing and implementing a new marketing stratergy and send it directly to the Crynes. Don't give away your ideas but just enough to let them know in is in all our interests to get you in for a chat. If that is something that would interest you of course.

Structures have to change with the times. Commerce is not static, it does not sit still for any amount of time let alone 7 years. Those who change and adapt are the ones who will succeed, those who don't will be left behind. I don't like the idea of commercial bombardment and I'm against electronic pitch side advertising with a passion. But there is a lot more to it than that. It's Mike's area of expertise, not mine.... :)

That's not a bad idea mate. I might just do that, if I can find time to write a marketing strategy in my spare time and to think that if I did it wouldn't be completely ignored and a waste of my time.

I have ideas that I would share for free (as I wouldn't consider giving up my current job even for BFC) but if those ideas stop at Mr Rowing then what is the point? I don't know - I'm just passionate about the club and passionate about branding and marketing and I can see areas that I feel could be improved with out a massive cost implication.

Interns aren't the solution in isolation, but under the stewardship of a marketing director within the club they would be a cost effective method of implementing new ideas. As I've said elsewhere it works for my employer and also massive brand owners such as P&G with some form of mentor working above them.

I've been saying this to non barnsley fans for a long time, it doesn't matter what manager we have in charge, without a change to our shambolic board, some financing and some bums on seats we can't expect to survive in this division
