    Not West Yorkshire exactly Archey... The West Riding of Yorkshire.. which all the current South Yorks was part of... plus a lot of what is now West Yorks... Wakefield, Leeds etc.
    Riding is a corruption of an old word for one third... Yorkshire had three Ridings, East, North and West.
