My mum and dad live on Cloudberry way, those houses are nice and bigger than what you expect.
My parents live at number 4, so if you choose there say hi from our Dean.

I've always like Kensington Road off Hudds Road, but I was brought up not too far off.

First post in the thread was spot on. Manvers is a very nice place, Wath isn't too bad either. Though they're not actually in Barnsley.

Massive generalisation but anywhere east of Barnsley = shithole, anywhere west = zero crime countryside living.

West of M1 past Doduth ...overpriced hunting territory .

East of M1 .....stick near M1 if hubby needs to travel (i.e. Cudeth will add 20 mins + to trip)

Birdwell /Hoyland/ Elsecar {Hoyland dead at the minute....one cr@p pub left}. All house prices reasonable compared to Junction 37 area.

Personally I'd avoid the manvers area and say that for the most part you can't go wrong anywhere along the m1 are really which is ideal for the commute up to Leeds too.

Stuff Barnsley, come to Upton, next to A1 and only a 15 minute drive to Barnsley anyway.

Where's the not so desirable area in Ardsley? Never come across it in 30 years.
