The Arches, now Portcullis. John Smith's £1 summat. I was 16 and at a mate's gig, thought if I ordered a proper drink I'd get served. Turns out they didn't give a **** so all my mates had Smirnoff's and WKDs.

Either the Portcullis or the Frienship in Gawber / Pogmoor. Both used to have DJs on. Would have been 1980/1. Both places had DJs on. Frienship had a side function room. Was slill at Holgate at the time, about 15, I think.

Goldthorpe Hotel, late 80’s, 90p. Trish wasn’t bothered and was always full of kids on a Friday night, even worse at greenfields if you were over 18 they wouldn’t let you in!

used to save dinner money all week, £5 on a Friday to go out with… 5 pints and a bag of chips on way home

Probably the Old Hall Inn Hope 1968ish. I think Red Barrel was 2/6. I needed to be well away from the home patch. As a 6th former at Wath our pub was The New Inn on a Friday night. We would also visit the "New" White Bear and the Saracens Head.

I would go out with a 10/- note or a 10/- piece. This covered beer 1/11 a pint, return bus fair, crisps or cockles pin ball & Juke box. Fags were extra.

Probably the Grey Horse at Old Town in about 1977. No idea how much it cost pretty much the same as I've no idea how much a pint costs now, I've never liked the stuff enough to worry about the price. Not being sanctimonious by the way, my vice has always been cake and biscuits. :)
