I was aiming for an Alex Chilton vocal, but Tim’s a good singer.
I’m keeping stuff under wraps for now. I’m hoping to sell at least a hundred records to you lot..;)

I was talking to Heavenly about a deal. They were worried I didn’t have any little pop songs for the radio? I started that one at Ed Harcourt’s house in Hampstead. Ed on piano. We should have taped that.?
It’s a bit throwaway. I love 60s American girl bands & messed around with riffs, like something Steve Jones might do..? Weaved my guitars, like Chris & Frank from Blondie.
I nicked some word ideas from Mott the Hoople. Which was kind of perfect, as Ian Hunters guitar player at the time, bobbed by the studio & added that beautiful solo.. Darrell Bath. Dead now, but the most naturally gifted r’n’r player, I ever knew. bless him.:)

Hence the use of the quotes “newer” or did you miss that bit?

Where have all the the good bands gone
And where are all the gods?
    Where's the streetwise Hercules
    To fight the rising odds?
