Not in this guy's league. Saw him late 90's Duchess, Leeds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzC_rGX-XyM
If I'm not not much mistaken (and I often am) isn't that Rolling & Tumbling by any other name? Ahhh the Duchess....... many years ago
He's passed on now, but was in his 80s when I saw him. It is basically the same riff, beefed up. Burnside was tutored by Fred McDowell, who was a Delta bluesman & that is obviously a standard that goes back to the 1920's.
Still surprised we signed him. Seemed a massive risk at the time after he'd had 8 months out injured & is proving to be
Wasting a six figure sum on an injured player was mental. That our board allowed it was even more stupid. We signed him around a month earlier than we had to with the transfer window. With him injured we should have waited until deadline time to see if he was back fit yet. LJ said it the other week that he was around 7-10 days away from training again. He said it when explaining that Australia called him up and we could have cancelled the Crewe game because we'd have had three call ups that weren't youth loans. By my reckoning when he talks to the press about Fleetwood today he should be telling them he's back in training and in contention for a bench place on saturday......
My brother was the mascot for the Crewe game so we met the players and when we first arrived Ryan was doing laps of the pitch with a trainer and after i asked when he thought he would be fit and he said he wanted to be playing with the under 21s in the next couple of weeks so hopefully end of the month he will be fit.
Many thanks for the insight - I'm impressed by your knowledge - I've come across Fred McDowell before (Paul Jones' radio show methinks)
phil gridlet , got fit in the end here he is in 2007 playing for celebrity united, ex film star too http://www.endofyourrainbow.co.uk/celebrityunited/philgridlet.html
I meant on here smarty pants, or is it just hindsight? If it is then he can't possibly moan about the club for signing him. Everyone (almost) thought it a good signing.
Surely the club had more information at their disposal than the fans do. They must have know how far of match fitness he was when they signed him. As far as I know DB wasn't privy to that info.
Yes you're right they should have been able to see into the future to tell how his injury was going to go. It was a groin strain. Give me strength.
That's true. Makes you worry about our medical staff too. Said at open day he'd be at Chesterfield and we didn't see him for a fair while after that point. Then he gets injured so soon into his comeback is it he was rushed back because we didn't know just how injured he was? Now the 7-10 days from being back in training that LJ mentioned before Crewe now seems a really poor estimate. The money spent on his six figure fee plus wages and medical expenses since then would have been better spent elsewhere and go back to trying to sign him when he was fit to play.
So you don't think the club would have been able to get a good idea of how long he would injured for based on his medical? Looks like he's going to miss at least three months of the season so someone has ballsed up somewhere.
No I don't. As has been said before there is currently no evidence of an actual physical injury, the club couldn't envisage this situation. And let's not forget he did play a while back.
