Based on his stats at Mansfield, I had expected him to have other suitors who wouldn't be haggling for ages over the last £50k or £100k or whatever it was, and I was worried we wouldn't get the deal over the line. We were very lucky that we did.
If he’s fit and not involved - that should be sack worthy for Mladen alone. Just step back and think how insane it is given our striking situation, to bring someone in and for them to be so bad they can’t get a game even from the bench. I honestly can’t even bring myself to think about it that much because it just breaks my brain.
In essence we’ve come out of the transfer window with worse striker options than before which takes some doing so great work Mladen
Probably more to do with the experienced players we have not been upto it. Is there any center half's in the academy? 1st half mdg was shocking twice flavell passed the ball to him and he controlled it out of play. Robbo played like he was pissed, and let his.man get goal side of him more than once if pines had a 1st half like robbo had the pitch forks would be out. McCarthy best of a bad bunch.
Wigan bossed it first half. Second half we showed a bit of class. Their goal - what's the goalie doing out that far if he's not decided to get it? MDG failed to shield him at all from the striker though - seen that before - like his throw ins - doesn't seem to learn from mistakes. Anyway, we can play it about but we are a side without purpose.
Absolutely horrendous defending just for a change from the god awful MDG. Left his keeper completely exposed by just running past the danger allowing the striker to get the ball. The sooner he's gone the better.
I don't know if anybodys said this but 2 points from Mansfield cambridge and wigan, honestly feel clark would have got 5/6 points and then would still be in the play off race. Think neerav and sormaz have jumped the gun a little.
We're not good enough for promotion wether clarkes in charge, conor, pep or schopp it will be the same result league 1 next season with our center halves. I think a big rebuild of the squad in the summer. And a new head coach.
Ran past Flavell and the ball on the outside, leaving their man a clear run on goal on the inside. Unbelievable and 100% his fault for me. We’re stuck with him for at least another year sadly.
Think you’ve just summed up how I feel about both subjects. I sort of like Maël but he continually rubbishes any of his good work by making the same mistakes. It’s practically every game as well. He does that closing down, rush the opponent move, who is about to receive the ball and most the time he lacks the pace and/or strength to win the duel. At least when Robbo is mugged off it’s because he’s 35 and the legs/mind are not as sharp. And you’re bang on regards this group of players. They can look decent in short spells, as well as horrific. But ‘a side without purpose’ would be the perfect description. So frustrating to watch. I can’t fault the effort really. And there’s real quality in a few of them. But it’s like watching me play darts. I can hit the odd 140 and occasionally check out first time. But mostly it’s a parade of 26s and 9 darts at a double.
Both mael and robbo were liabilities that 1st half. Robbos been decent alot of the season although hit and miss I'd keep him for one more season. The rest of them I'd get shut, get shepard and lotapa back give them a go and make some new signings. Pines, McCarthy, mael not good enough.
I agree with the idea of giving Lopata another chance, and it shows we do have one or two replacement options at the back. But as for the idea of just how many players in the squad need getting rid of. Because they're either not good enough, or not interested, or both!. Well, its really quite worrying for our hopes, for the next few seasons.
It's the less they play the better they get syndrome isn't it though. I'm not saying either Lopta or Shepherd haven't improved but they needed to because before they went out on they weren't good enough.
