No, don't think we've got the players I think the manager is getting the best out of the players we've got and I think the players are putting in maximum effort, but we're just short on quality. You never know though, far stranger things have happened.
Best chance we've had! Taking into consideration we have the best manager since Sir Bobby, The climate should be in our favour and for most of the so called generation it will be there last shot at glory I think we will have a pretty good chance of winning it! Am gonna stick a tenner on em anyway! I just hope the tabloids don't raise the expectations too high prior to the finals and all them idiots with St George flags on their Ford Escorts come out of the woodwork!
RE: Best chance we've had! Agreed, I think it's the best chance we've had. Having a proper manager makes a hell of a difference. He can make what are (let's be fair) pretty average group of players perform solidly and win games. When he came in I said I'd settle for him making us boring and hard to beat so that we definitely qualify and don't disgrace ourselves. He's done that but we're actually playing some decent stuff as well. Think we do need to do something this time round though because the U21's etc are not exactly packed with superstars. There's no apparent next Rooney either in the youth set ups.
That lot played every week Never got injured. And Cooper could play anywhere on the pitch as cover. Maybe I should take Glynn Riley too like, just in case.
Oh forgot to mention, the press will dig up some dirt story about one of the players.. round about April/May, just to upset the squad preparations a bit like they do before every major tournament.
Jack Wilshere. A player like Rooney could appear from nowhere. Not many people had heard of him before he scored that goal to end Arsenal's long unbeaten run..
RE: Jack Wilshere. He was making a name for himself in the youth set up at Everton though. Banging in goals in the youth cup etc. Guess you're right though, players like that tend to appear unannounced. Wilshere looks the business but he's lightweight. Depends on how he develops I guess. There's no better club than Arsenal for sorting him out though.
