Nobody at all. Maybe 1-2 on the bench at a push. Our current squad is full of guys who have achieved little at this level or nothing at all at this level as of yet.

Really surprised by how little mention Drinkwater has recieved in this thread. He'd be the only one pushing close for me

3000 quid a week is still a huge amount of money, even after tax!

For all those who have said none would make the squad

Then I assume that having no reserve goalkeeper of note would be better than Luke Steele? Also, was Carel Van Der Velden really better than Jacob Butterfield? Or were Laurens Ten Heuvel and Dave Regis better than Craig Davies and Ricardo Vaz Te?
Blimey, I'm DEFINITELY out of touch with some Barnsley fans and posters on here!

To be fair, Regis was out on loan pretty much all of the promotion season. Vaz Te, Steele, Butterfield and Drinkwater in the squad for me. I'd have started with Vaz Te ahead of Bullock.

I fear that you are being ridiculous Kev

Luke Steele would have been 13 at the time! He would have been far too easy to lob.

I'd certainly have Davies in the squad - what an option to bring in for Wilkinson, who for all his huge contribution did suffer a confidence crisis in front of goal - seem to remember him going 12 or 13 matches without a goal mid-season.

He was in the squad and made a number of substitute appearances

But he was obviously better than Davies & Vaz Te!

    Ah, but

He'd still have been better at taking crossers than Flapper Watson!

Wilkinson had to put up with a fair bit of abuse from some fans

When he scored in the home game against Norwich, he ran towards the East Stand cupping his ear and shouting towards a particular group.

Yep, and that was only a few matches in. Already a lot of people had written him off, surprise surprise. Not one of the most clinical strikers we've ever had by any stretch of the imagination but I am absolutely sure that we would never have seen the best of John Hendrie without Wilko doing a lot of the donkey work, pulling defenders out of position and the like. He must have been an absolute sod to mark.

His last appearance was on 28th September, after which he was out on loan for pretty much the whole of the season, so to say he was a squad member is stretching it a bit I think. Clearly Vaz Te and Davies are a million miles better.

I'd put Wilkinson easily in the top ten strikers I've seen play for Barnsley. A reight player.

Why can't you just let me arrogantly pontificate?

I'm shaking my fist angrily at the screen now. Let that be a lesson for you!

It's alright Kev - not long to go till you're a pensioner and then we'll just humour you. "Yes, it's alright, Regis was in the squad, fighting it out for a place up front with Harry Tufnell and the Dalai Lama. NURSE!"
