    My Grandad and Dad

    were at Rockingham, My cousin Dennis was at Elsecar Main, My Uncle Wilf and his son John were at Wath... and My Mum was at Houghton main. My Wifes Grandad and Dad worked at Penalta colliery in South Wales... her Dad was also later in Mines Rescue.

    cortonwood,1981 till closure,then barnburgh,maltby,frickley and silverwood.made redundant xmas eve 1994,then went to armthorpe with coal investments,then kellingley and stillingfleet.
    finally finished in 2008 at hayroyds(flacks) small mine.

    Interesting.Thanks for the replies,I bet I know some of the Houghton Main lot & others for that matter .My dad and my 2 brothers also worked at Houghton Main

    Already been there done that it was crap.The Call centres could never have the same camaradery as the pits.
