Where do you think we'll finish this season and why?

15th. I think we've got a lot of exciting players & we've got plenty of goals in us.

I'm more concerned about the second season when I'd expect a few stars to leave.



Which games are you looking forward to the most?

Virtually them all. There's only the odd team like Brentford & Burton that don't excite me.

All the Yorkshire derbies, Newcastle & Villa are the obvious ones but Derby, Norwich, Blackburn, Cardiff, Fulham etc all biggish clubs in recent years, all been in Prem & even games like Ipswich & Bristol are more interesting because of their managers.



Which players do you expect to shine this season?

Hourihane. He's our key man. Leader, creater, goal scorer. Without him we're buggered.

Against better sides where it'll be harder to score from open play his quality from set pieces will be even more important.


Which players do you doubt can make the step up?

White mainly because he's not really done it at Leeds or Rotherham.

A lot are saying Winnall but I think it's all about service. I've no doubt he'll score if he gets the chances.



Who are the sides to fear?

Newcastle & Norwich for automatic promotion.



Are there any opposition players you're looking forward to seeing?

Ex-Reds. Brownhill, Digby & Butterfield spring to mind



Which sides do you expect to see in bother this season?

Rotherham to go down. They remind me of us under Flitcroft, they put together a miraculous run of form to stay up & now have confidence that they can push on but the players ultimately aren't good enough & they'll struggle.

Burton with them for obvious reasons.

And then maybe Blackburn for the 3rd spot. Seem a shambles of a club, wouldn't be surprised if Bristol & Huddersfield are in the mix as well

Top 15. I reckon we've got a decent squad together and we play a good style of football. We'll lose a few along the way but I think we'll be too good a lot of the plodders.

Don't think I fear anybody, in the sense that I think we'll achieve our objectives regardless of what other teams do. Newcastle and Villa are clearly going to be difficult games, but our season won't be decided by our results against those sort of teams.

Are there any opposition players you're looking forward to seeing?
Not really, will be nice to see Rafa.

Which sides do you expect to see in bother this season?
Burton and Rotherham certainly. Fulham, Blackburn, Preston, Wolves and hopefully Bristol.

Where do you think we'll finish this season and why?

Head overrules heart with this decision. Tough season in store and I predict we'll finish in the bottom 1/4 of the table - 20th.
We'll take a lot of teams by surprise this season with our expansive approach - should we continue in this manner - but a small squad will be tested and confidence will start to wain without experience and know how.


Which games are you looking forward to the most?

All the local derbies - hopefully it will be us with the bragging rights. Newcastle at home will make for a fantastic atmosphere too.



Which players do you expect to shine this season?

Adam Hammill. His confidence is back and he's playing with a smile on his face. I can see him causing teams lots of problems with his intelligence.


Which players do you doubt can make the step up?

I still think there's a question mark over Aidy White despite his Championship pedigree. If he stays fit he'll be important but that's a big if.


Who are the sides to fear?

I can don't think you can look much further than Newcastle for the title. Derby, Norwich, Aston Villa could make up the automatic spots with the usual suspects in and around the playoffs - I wouldn't anticipate any major surprises.


Are there any opposition players you're looking forward to seeing?

I've admired Wes Hoolahan for a long time, his technique is exceptional.

Which sides do you expect to see in bother this season?

Rotherham, Burton and Blackburn. Although the first two have been active in the market, I think their lack of quality will be telling. Blackburn have been on a downward spiral for a few seasons and can no longer call on the services of Rhodes to bring them the points.


Will Hecky still be our manager/head coach at the end of the season?

Yes if the club has any sense. We've put a solid and realistic plan in place and it would be foolish to scrap that. I think the head coach role is appropriate and he definitely has the ability to step up and be

Invest in the long term future of the football club - a prudent approach is important.

No. I think one of the big boys will knock us out in the league cup and a third round exit will await us in the FA cup - this is getting very negative from me.

I think we'll finish 18th personally.

Hourihane will really show his class in this division and I think Davies will keep us in games more often than not pulling off some fantastic saves.

I think Winnall and White will struggle this season. Winnall can go missing in games or just be off it completely. White has sometimes shown his defensive duties can be under par.




Who are the sides to fear?

Newcastle, especially with some of the players they're buying Gayle and Ritchie will score 15 goals each this season.



Are there any opposition players you're looking forward to seeing?

Gayle & Ritchie will be nice to see. More so Ritchie as I think he should still be in the Prem.

I hope so, even if we are relegated we need to stick with him. He got us promoted from League One so i'm sure he'll be more than capable if that's where we end up

Leeds, always felt a bit of a connection with them as my dad was a big Leeds fan when he was younger and even more so now I live here.

Leeds, not as a relegation scrap but they always seem to be getting in bother one way or another since the arrival of Cellino.

I certainly hope so and I reckon he will unless we do absolutely horrendously. I don't think we need to worry about him being poached as he's one of our own and seems happy to remain so.

Newcastle at home, if it's anything like the last time we had them at oakwell was a cracking atmosphere! Obviously Wednesday home and away too. Bristol city at home should be an interesting one too.

Conor hourihane without a doubt, can see him taking the division by storm and getting himself a big move to a higher end club. Also think Adam Davies will turn a few heads.

Tin hat at the ready, and i hope he proves me wrong! But I think Marc Roberts will struggle against the smarter and clever movement of the strikers in this league.

Clearly Newcastle will be a different class, unfortunately think Wednesday are going to be up there.

Really like wes hoolahan at Norwich think he's a terrific footballer. Also jonjo Shelvey at Newcastle.

I thought it'd be nice (awwww) to collect folks' views on the season ahead. Might be interesting to look back at this thread in a few months time, see just how wrong everybody was. Have a bash. It's just for fun.


Where do you think we'll finish this season and why? 12th, we have quality in the squad that wasn't there on our previous return to this level.

Which games are you looking forward to the most? Aside from the big home games, Fulham away. Weekend in London with my son, and a old fashioned ground.

Which players do you expect to shine this season? Hourihane, Hammill and Moncur. Our centre backs have the potential, for me, to do another McCarthy and Evans at this level, fingers crossed.

Which players do you doubt can make the step up? I've confidence in them all, seriously, and will back them to the hilt. Clearly there'll be ones that do struggle, but no one stands out as a risk to me.

Who are the sides to fear? Norwich, Newcastle. Good squads, but I'd love to see us just take sides like this on without any fear. Whatever the outcome is.

Are there any opposition players you're looking forward to seeing? No one in particular, I respect good opponents, be that individuals or teams. Always liked Matt Ritchie at Bournemouth, be good to see him with Newcastle. But it's the Reds I go to see.

Which sides do you expect to see in bother this season? Burton, Rotherham (I hope I'm wrong, got lots of time for them), Fulham and I also think Blackburn could struggle.

I've got 10 mins before my next meeting so I'll have a stab......


Where do you think we'll finish this season and why?

Anywhere between 12th and 16th. The division is tight. We're not fishing in the same pond as the Newcastle's and the Noriwich's, but there are plenty of teams in and around us that we'll have a decent chance of taking points off. The most salient point here, and one I think Hecky will drum home is, don't be overawed before we've even kicked a ball!


Which games are you looking forward to the most?

Obvious ones like Newcastle and Villa at home. I normally take in Sheff Weds away but there is no way I'm lining their pockets at the reported £49 a ticket. Also looking forward to a bit of banter with Rotherham this year.


Which players do you expect to shine this season?

I'd really like to see Mawson and Roberts excel, although it'll be interesting to see how they do when times get tough. We have to accept at some point this season we'll get an absolute pasting off someone. It's about how we bounce back from that. Hammill will drag us through games at times, Hourihane will be instrumental if he can carry his form through, but the player for me to really shine will be Scowan. The Championship is made for a player like him.


Which players do you doubt can make the step up?

Tough question when we've had such a turnover of players. I think most if not all of the lads from last season should be ok/good. I'm interested to see how the new players do, although flat refuse to write ANYONE off before a ball is kicked, regardless of what team or division they came from.


Who are the sides to fear?

The usual suspects. Newcastle and Norwich in particular. I feel dirty for saying this....but don't bet against Sheff Weds.


Are there any opposition players you're looking forward to seeing?

Interested to see if Ross McCormack is as good in real life as his goal record suggests. Without sounding like a stuck record.....If Benitez gets The Geordies purring then they've got plenty of players to watch.



Which sides do you expect to see in bother this season?

Burton, Rotherham, Fulham. Possibly Forest and be interesting to see how much of a car crash Wolves are with their goings on.


Will Hecky still be our manager/head coach at the end of the season?

To progress as a club he fundamentally has to be. You can see his background in the way we play, you can see what he's trying to do and how we are trying to get there. Bournemouth stuck with Howe and people are now talking about him as a future England manager. Why can't Hecky go on to have a massively successful career, either at Barnsley or higher up the pyramid?

Yes. Despite having an 8 week old, my Mrs told me I 'have to get one under any circumstances, to give me some peace'. No idea what she means!


What off-field area of the football club do you feel needs improving the most?

At the moment I think we are doing OK. The club just need to ensure communication lines are always open and honest, even if it's not what the supporters want to hear. I'd rather be told a rubbish truth than a great lie that never becomes reality.


Are you excited about a new scoreboard?

Did you ever see Carlton's dance on The Fresh Prince? I'm that excited.


John Stones is sold this summer. What should the club do with any forthcoming monies in your opinion?

Make the club self sustainable for a few years and stop taking handouts off Patrick Cryne. If there is no necessity to borrow (or take) money off him, don't. Use whatever monies we gained from promotion and tv revenue to spend on players, academy, scoreboard, facilites etc (barring it's enough of course), no-one other than those in the club really understand the nuiances of football finance. As it's already been mentioned we probably wouldn't get the reported £7.5 million in one lump sum anyway, chances are it would come over the course of time.



Do you reckon the reds will have another cup run this season?

No, I fully expect Northampton to knock us out of the League Cup and lose to someone like MK Dons or Shrewsbury away in the FA Cup in January.

I'd say you were a 'stone cold sort' but I wear eyepatches over both the holes where my eyes used to be so I'm not sure my opinion is valid.

Where do you think we'll finish this season and why?

18th. The beauty of this season is that honestly no one has a clue how we'll get on. Hopefully we will come flying out the blocks for a change and have a real good go.
I think we'll score a very decent amount but will probably be a little bit leaky at the back, hopefully it's enough to see us comfortably safe but I would snatch the hand off of someone if they offered us 21st!


Which games are you looking forward to the most?

All the local ones, particularly Rotherham away.
Newcastle and Villa for obvious reasons and Bristol City too.

Hourihane and hopefully Hammill. I also think Yiadom will be excellent for us.

Pretty sure all of them are capable particularly because they have time on their side with it being a very young squad.
A few could struggle at first and it will most likely be the defence but should hopefully get up to speed pretty quickly.

Wouldn't fear anyone really. Newcastle probably have the best squad that this division has seen in a long time though.

I hope they're all awful against us but there are some very talented players in this league e.g. Gayle, Grealish, Mitrovic and Ritchie.

Burton will obviously struggle but other than them, Blackburn and Rotherham are my bet to go down.

Mid table. Too much quality to go down, not enough experience to aim for play-offs. Think we will set up to win games rather than not lose them.

Any game with a decent away following, and there should be a few of those.

Adam Davies, then Josh, Connor, Adam, Tom. To be honest, I think they will all be picked to do a job first, then if they shine it will be a bonus

Townsend possibly, but prepared to give them all a chance.

All of them. It's a massive step and already a bigger league than last time we were there. I would prefer leaving the fear to us fans, but with the players I'd rather see respect in place of fear. And that includes respect for "the likes of" Rotherham and Burton.

Honestly more bothered in how our own progress and cope. Obviously seeing players like Brownhill will be interesting but I'm not sure there are any quality players in the relegated Prem teams that make me think "wow".
