I agree with much of that Titus and it is really good to see some who have been ultra critical come back on here and give credit to the club where it is clearly most definitely due. It also makes such a change to come on here and see some positivity about the club. Posters are quick to feed the beast when things aren't looking good, so why not jump up and down a bit when something good happens. At times, as we all know, it becomes a proper feeding frenzy of negativity on here (not much different from other fans' sites I would imagine) and that's what disappoints me. Like you, I think the majority of posters want the best for the club and we all have a different way of expressing it. In addition , when you throw emotion into that equation it does become heated, to say the least. I understand all that, but what I don't "get" is the criticism; which, in the main, is nothing other than destructive and/or lacking in substance. Criticise by all means, but make it constructive. The other thing which happens is that judgements and assumptions are made without any reliance on facts. OK - everyone loves a conspiracy theory but why not tone down the venom with something a bit more considered.......the time to make a call on things, is when we know as much as we can about what really is happening at the club. I love our club like most on here. I do think we are building something special, in the right way, and today's activity actually proves that. Actions. Words. etc. Tin hat time.
It’s a sad state of affairs - but yes we can take some solace knowing we only lost 1 of the 3 players we were nervous of losing. we still have the core of the defence that eventually kept us up, a strengthened midfield and known decent strikers who were played out of position who may now prosper. oh yeah and probably in the black financially from the deals. Glass half full, but that’s better than it having been necked by a short sighted board.
Signing Woodrow's extension is the signing of today. Gives a lift to the team mates as well as the fans. Just need to get back to scoring now
I'd say Kane fits the spreadsheet perfectly (and he was on a permanent). My major issue is that we still haven't replaced Moore, let alone Brown. Decent day other than that.
I'd say Conway....theres been more albeit rumours of Lord Lucan appearances than there ever has Conway at oakwell of late...lol...
All it means is that he is still at the club. It means we have the same forwards. No additional attacking player.
Have we bought Kane and James? I have only just flicked through our business today. I knew I'd get it wrong.
Kane has signed for a fee of £1.25m (according to the BBC & Sky Sports) and James on an initial three months loan deal.
I think he's assuming that we've loaned Kane. I mean how would be able to get a player from Liverpool otherwise. Surely, we've not been able to pay a seven figure sum to get him
But he was on his way out according to most. The board were cashing in. Contract extension means a lot, means CW is happy here, plus the lift it gives the players and fans is enormous
It will be no surprise to hear me state that we will remain in deep trouble without a different striking option. James is a real class player. He'll be wanting to look after himself though when he's with us. I wonder what our latest strategy now is. And who's in charge of it.
Whoa. A good day I agree. But, if we’d signed Messi and Harry Kane today it wouldn’t have changed my view of the Owners. I base my judgment on three years not three hours. I think they are bad news for the future of this Club and would be thrilled if they had gone - on a free transfer. That doesn’t mean I don’t recognise that by our Standards this has been a better window than of late and I’ll be screaming my support for these players and coaching staff - temporary and permanent.
It could mean anything. It could mean that nobody thought he was worth more than £1.5m. It could mean that Woodrow was being offered more cash here, with numerous get out clauses if we were relegated, or if someone offered more money for him in the future. The amount he's being paid might cause dressing room disharmony. It could mean that the next big thing up front can't come now cos Woodrow can't be moved on. It could mean that his present goal drought gets worse. What I hope it means is that those who posted on here saying he wasn't putting the effort in and wanted a move might be given pause for thought.
Had a belly full on em mate this last few weeks. (Maybe a little bit of point scoring as loko sez. I can appreciate that.) Posting non stories. Blinkered. Rumours that some latch onto as gospel then preaching the same as fact. They know who they are and quite frankly if the cap fits em they should wear it. I asked one the other day if he had any positives. Accusing anyone of not damning the board on every move of being up their arse so to speak. ( believe it or not I am known to criticise when I think it’s due. And so are everyone else ) still waiting.
