The club looked at out of contract players in late September but Tonge said in a Radio Sheffield interview "we decided against it because we couldn't get them fit in time"
I guess this sums up what is wrong with the modern game. He’s played a dozen matches per season over his entire career.
We don’t appear to have an issue going forward, we’re desperate for experience at the back. I remember watching Keith Curle bossing the back line in the short time he was with us, someone who could take charge at the back and we’ll be in with a shout.
A bit more experience would have seen us win/draw a few more games up to now. I hope the board are not too naive or stubborn to realise this, as we are not far away from being a decent team
If we want to stay up. 1 experienced Championship ready CH/LB/RB/CF and 2 midfield players 1 box to box 1 defensive CM out anyone except Brown Chaplin Woodrow mowatt and the keepers.
Can’t believe anyone would turn down Kevin Long. He’s way better than whoever we’ll end up with, I’m sure! ^That comment from Tonge about not getting players up to speed is bonkers. Stupid.
Same goes for midfield, were playing a centre back in CDM and a striker in attacking midfield..... An injury to mowatt and we could see walton get a chance in midfield!
Trouble is the board are too stubborn and naive and I suspect that with all the flack they’re getting they’ll be even worse
