I was born in the Philippines... and have lived in West Yorkshire the rest of my life. By the way, I have a feeling you may be the lad I met on the train down to Cardiff in May. I was travelling from Leicester...
Me Born in Barnsley, and resided at Pinder Oaks Maternity Hospital until I was 9 days old, then lived in Walton, Croydon, Horsham, various places Middle East, Africa and the US for 15 years, then France, Scotland, but never lived in Barnsley.
What got you lot supporting BFC then? Just wondering why you chose Barnsley, we're not exactly a glory team! I grew up in Dodworth and my dad was a fan.
Me I lived in Churchfields which, like the Vatican, is considered a state within a state. It's high, guarded walls, palacial marbled thoroughfares; beautifully lamplit by night with the sweet scent of jasmine wafting in the cool air. The lofty passes of Rock St, Summer Street etc keeping guard over the riff raff of the Summer Lane mobs. Ahhhh the memories!
RE: Wombwell is Barnsley you dope Wombwell is a town in it's own right ..... but, is in the unfortunate position, in that, it comes under Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, rule.

RE: Wombwell is Barnsley you dope Wombwell may well NOW be part of Barnsley! BUT for the 18 years that I lived there it was its own Urban District with its own Council and own Town Hall and therefore not part of Barnsley! So technically I have never lived in Barnsley! Perhaps Farnham is the same! You DOPE Jay!
RE: Wombwell is Barnsley you dope Without wanting to start a Wombwell separatist movement, I lived in Wombwell under the same circumstances, I wouldn't say I'd never lived in Barnsley though! I think the post was aiming to identify those second generation Barnsley fans having been born and raised in places where you can't buy the Barnsley Chronicle.
I lived in Thurnscoe and Bolton on Dearne till I was 18 - Does that count? Since then I've lived in Newcastle, London, Cambridge, Derby and now South Derbyshire, I still get back to the 'well whenever I can and my 2 boys (born and brought up in South Derbyshire) go with me.
Me OK. I'll join in. I was born in Warwickshire, went to school/college in Warwickshire and have always lived in Warwickshire (different parts). My only connection with Barnsley is supporting the football team - oh, and I now know alot of people who come from/live there!
What a good idea .... .... lets start a Wombwell separatist movement, that way, we that still live in Wombwell, won't have to subsidise the flower arranging, outside Barnsley Tarn Hall, with our council tax.

Bring back Wombwell Urban District Council !

I was born in Barnsley.... but never lived there. Lived in Huddersfield, Sheffield, Nottingham and now Leicestershire.
Total contradiction in terms.... A true footy fan should always show his true support to the team nearest to where he was born and brought up. Full stop. Thats why you get all those saddo Glory Glory Man u fans who've never even been to Old Trafford. Sadly thats not the case, there are loads of footy fans in tarn who support the glory teams, its a shame cos with their support we could fill Oakwell
