Yep. Never thought we'd break the QPR hoodoo in my lifetime, but did so last year. Coventry sill proves elusive but there is no reason we can't break another before this season is out.
Id love to say yes but its Swansea who seem to now be one of our bogey teams - I still expect them playing for a 0-0 and possibly nicking a goal like they did first leg. We need to score to get the game to penalties and I dont see it , Steeling myself for disappointement and hoping desperately that I am wrong. Then again I didn't expect us to win at Huddersfield back in 2006 so who knows
I’m hopeful Val will have seen enough on Monday & know exactly what changes are needed to counteract Swansea. No drastic changes needed, just the right personnel.
To be fair at 1 nowt its anybodys game still. Win 1 nil and its down to spot kicks. Its not as if we are going in to it needing to score 3 from the off. If we mix our style up a bit, similar to how we played v Norwich I think we have a great chance with our energy and never give up attitude. Plus laws of averages, we are due to beat em. Starting to feel the nerves already again..
Part of my match day ritual is to go to the Dryden Road Subway - ask to be served by K. - and buy 2 X Turkey and Ham Subs with mixed vegetables but always including Jalopenos. Only missed once recently and that was for the recent Swansea match - Mea Culpa - Mea Maxima Culpa. So will definitely do the same tomorrow and I've absolutely no doubt that Barnsley will win - it will go to penalties but we will be on the way to Wembley.
Start with Morris, play Woodrow deeper to neutralise their holding midfielder Grimes who was very good on Monday. Get at em, mix up our approach play and get their fans worried and quiet. Aim for an early goal and then the rest will follow.
We were a significantly different team the first 2 games we played them. And the third game we could easily have won. And I don't put any stock whatsoever into historical records. They don't mean a thing!
At some point yeah. Looking at it the other way though, if those stats were reversed I'm pretty sure we'd all be feeling far more confident. We'd all be on here talking about how we have the beating of them, going into our home leg tomorrow 1-0 up. So, possible, yes. Confident, no. For me anyway.
well it's only one goal, so it's deffinately in our hands. But we really should not play Hoof balll like we did in the 1st leg.
I would state my position slightly differently: I wouldn't say I'm confident that we'll get a result, because Swansea could get a lucky goal or we might get a bad decision go against us. However I would say that I'm not in the least worried about the game - because I am confident we're capable of beating Swansea (and by several goals). So I just hope The Reds play to their best and, if they do, I think it's highly likely we'll get to Wembley. On a much less significant point, it would be a shame to not win when our present Play-Off Away leg record is Played 3, Won 3, Goals For 10, Goals Against 2
Fair dos. Find myself disagreeing on all three points though. The 1st half on Monday I don't think was much improved at all, on the first two games. There was very little there for me. 2nd half granted, we played a lot better. And yeah, we could have won, but we didn't. We didn't even score. And haven't scored against them in over 4 and half hours. As for historical records, not sure about that either. Not saying because we lost previously we can't win. I'm suggesting the statistics are massively stacked against us. Not just historically, but more importantly this season. If any team in this league knows how to stop us scoring, it's Swansea. Obviously we can win. It's only 1-0 and if we score first it's game on. But if I was a Swansea fan I'd be feeling more confident than I am as a Barnsley fan.
Im sure we will give it a good go and apply ourselves. I just think they have a bit too much for us (they are the one side i wanted to avoid in the play offs). Ill be trying to contain myself but screaming as loud as anyone. This is football though....anything can happen on the day.
