    I play The Limes...

...where 'out of bounds' doesn't seem to be part of the rules. I figured this out when I was being held up from taking a putt from the edge of the green while another guy was playing a sandwedge onto the next fairway.

An admirable protocol, if you ask me.

    When you're their age?

    That's ambitious.

I'll be chuffed to see 50. And probably bored sh*tless by then too.

Strange one that, trust you pointed the rule out.
I'm constantly at loggerheads with some prats on the course, especially my old club that was full of old duffers and stuffed shirts, over the single players have no standing rule. They'll come along and get all uppity saying 'please move aside - you have no standing as single player'. After I tell them to foxtrot oscar in my best Barnsley brogue they usually go off in a huff and talk to the club manager (another Yorkie) who gets a great deal of pleasure in telling them that the single player 'etiqutte' - because that's what is was, not a rule, was banished by the R&A several years back.
I then get a bollocking for winding the old wheezers up, again.
    Good fun though.

I don't point out protools and etiquette, 'cos if I started they'd probably point out to me that foul and abusive language towards drivers (and 3 woods) and hurling your putter isn't exactly R&A standard either.

    You need yer eyes lasered.
Mind you, he does cut a handsome figure in the moody light on the burger van at the bottom of the Oakwell car park on a wet Tuesday home game selling Better Read Than Dead.

I've stopped the ancient art of putter hurling. The b*stards never come back straight. Besides mi Scotty Cameron sleeps by the side of my bed every night. Won me a few bob has that beauty.

Oh aye BRTD was the older of the twain. I didn't actually write anything - well I did, reems of stuff that never got published because of it being far too funny and might hurt people. Doctoring cartoons was my bag.

    Got a lesson booked tomorrow.

Providing my swing's coming through properly, I'll probably spend it on putting practice. Lets me down on so many holes. On the green in 2 or 3, still marking down a 7 or 8.

Putter's fault, though. And the wind. And divots, from people playing a sand wedge onto the other fairway, and...

A golf course is 5 inches long, that's the distance on average from one ear to the next, and that's where all the problems are.
Keep at it. It's well worth the pain.
