RE: Nothing wrong with that mate

That's just who I thought it would be.
It's funny that I don't know you but I knew who would have been involved. He had a brother who played as a pro too. One of my old School palls who passed away a few years ago was their cousin.
The last time I saw him he was back at the Sheff.U Academy and so was Bob Widdowson.
Next time I go to the Blunts Academy I will ask Foggy if he is still there.

It's terrible that things like that happen. I was told today about a young player recently who was told at the club he was at that he wasn't getting a contract in 8 months time.He quit on the spot. The lad may have developed into a quality prospect given time. If you read Robbie Fowlers book you will see that bullying still occurs in the game.

    RE: I agree...

It reminds me of the bit in Fever Pitch when he talks about Gus Caeser. He makes the point that everyone at Highbury was slagging off Caeser and then he reflects on the levels of football that he must have played at to get where he was. Right from school team, county team. Arsenal Boys and the various teams upto the first team.

I once laiked against Sebastian Deisler in the German youth leagues. He went on to play at a reasonable level!

Well played a few games in my time, micky wadsworth got me a trial with barnsley boys (i never turned up) when i was at willowgarth i then moved to Guernsey and played in the same team as matt le tiss and his bro's Kevin and Carl, i even worked with Carl at Norman Piette

believe it or not his brother Kev was better then matt and his younger bro carl was as good although a greedy bastrd but that makes a good striker , Kev turned down pro football and believe me Kev was **** hot when it came to scoring goals, he really wasbetter then Matt, i think he stillholds the record for goals scored for Guernseys island team.

anyway, although i was a striker in my time, time an weight now makes me a keeper, so if anyone wants a keeper, giz a shout, [IMG]

same bloke was responsible for the break up of the under 14 stream that wiped the floor with all the country - they are 26 now - people like mathie brown - brit batley - alun jones - facey and cademartri were there as well - a right big headed arrogant Barsteward that thought bollocking was the way forward - name of barry wagstaff - played old fashioned left half for sheff u - watched them play grimsby 1 sat morn - won 5 -0 in all sorts of wind on the queens ground and the first thing he did was bollock them when they went into the dressing room - brill kid management

thats the man, well done for finding out. yes barry was responsible for a lot of the bad things in the development in youth players. Players never used to get praise off barry. you only knew when u did well when he said nothing to you. Players at 15 to 17 lost all confidence. i was one of them. i had words with the academy director and reserve manager (mark smith at the time) they didnt want me to go and said i was a player of a lot of promise. I stayed for another 6 months. at this time i never wanted to go training or play. I lost all my confidence and he never really picked me out personally, it was the way he was, he called it character building. B*ll*cks i thought, i loved the club and it was the only club i wanted to play for but i wasnt enjoying it anymore, my performances were weak so i thought i didnt have to put up with it. I used to see other managers of teams like man city, leeds, liverpool and all interacted with playes giving bollockings when due, but also giving praise. you only knew if u had a good game with barry if he said nothing to you. Along with me 3 other players left at same time. Barnsley held my contract to 2002 incase i returned they said as i left due to mutual consent. I'll be honest and wont say who but A club came in for one of the 1st team players now and he was gonna leave to Sheff Wed because of barry. they put his money up so he stayed here.
