You forget just how good we used to be. I remember Bullock absolutely destroying Sol Campbell at Oakwell in the Cup. At the time he was England's main man at centre half and Martin Bullock gave him a proper schooling. As for Clint his turn on the touch line against Man City in the promotion year was like Messi. Great memories and light years away from the dross of last year.

It often was, in my opinion. He destroyed plenty of teams in both the promo and Prem seasons. Not as much as I'd have liked, but he's a very very underrated laiker who never makes a 'best XI' when mentioned on here.

The excitement when he got the ball has only been matched by a few since.

Hignett, Butterfield, Hammill, Vaz Te and Paddy. Magic players.

Just had a quick look at wiki and he scored 4 goals in 185 appearances for us. He scored 20 in 452 appearances during his entire career. This would have been a far greater number for such an attacking player if he hadn't such a weak finish. Not dissing him though as is was one of my favourite ever players.

He definitely lacked goals. No question there. It was the one thing he was **** at. Some of his shots were like a child had hit them. I even remember a few times him failing to connect with shots. He was funny to watch at times, with his shirt ten sizes too big for him. He's universally adored at Blackpool too, as a legend.

But he ripped defenders to pieces, often drew two men to him which created space aplenty for Redders, Barnard, Hendrie, Ward etc etc. He'd be shot down in flames on this board nowadays.

    "dunt work back"

    "can't head or tackle"

    "never scores"

Would be nice to see a couple of additions to our squad for next season who could get us excited again after last seasons dross. Jennings will rip teams to bits if we can hold on to him.

I hope so. But the Jennings we saw for the last few weeks was bloody awful. Needs to learn to stand up, and to try summat other than cutting in. He became a one trick pony. Jacob told me Karanka had spent ten minutes showing video clips of him, and to show him onto his left foot etc. He was found out after that intial burst of form. Fingers crossed he's working hard and learning over the summer.

At the time that we signed Clint, I seem to recall something in the papers saying he was the fastest paler in the league over 100 meters and could have chosen a career as a sprinter for his country. In hIs first game at the Hawthorns he tore the Albion apart and when subbed near the end got a standing ovation. My mate who's a Baggies fan was sat in the away end with me that day and he had a £20 bet after that match stating that "Barnsley will go up this year, they've got a right player (Marcelle), he's brilliant".

Bullock was pretty quick with ball at feet, but as a pure sprinter it's undoubtedly Clint.

I'd say Danny Haynes was lightning quick.

He scored a couple of real beauties though. Top corner from 25 yards.

Leicester at home in 95 and I think the other one was at home to Swindon in the cup, but I could be wrong on that. I know he scored two goals in two games, 4 days apart, both in the cup after not scoring for an age.

His best ever performance was at home to Oldham in cup at beginning of '96. One of the very few matches both him and Marcelle started the game. The pair of them ripped Oldham to shreds. They just destroyed 'em and both players scored. It was like watching magic. First Marcelle would beat about 5 men, then Bullock would have a go, then Marcelle again. The rest of our players just sat back and watched. It was ******* brilliant.

He had one of the best past completion rates of the BFC team in our prem season, never forget him putting Sol Campbell on his bum either, class player, would die for another Bully right now in the team.

I remember these times well. Great times. I also recall him rattling the bar from 35 yards once. But my abiding memory will always be his performance against Spurs in the cup. Thought he and Barnard on either side were unplayable that night. Reight game. Martin Bullock. Reight laiker.

I remember Oldham away when they must have had about six players booked all for fouls on Marcelle who was tearing them apart. From one of the free kicks Redfearn slammed one of his specials in to the old onion bag to set us up for an away win (do you remember away wins?). It was just like watching Brasil!
