Steele and O'Grady. That's it. Edit And Ramage But I wouldn't be desperate for them back, I'm more than happy with the squad we've got.
It is strange the cloying obsession some of our fanbase have for ex players / managers I remember at Coventry away the group sat behind me spent more time talking about ex players who were playing that day/ when they scored and checking the Bury and Rochdale scores than watching the game
None, even though there's a number of those players I particularly liked. It's not that I wish to sound disrespectful or unappreciative of them, but the club has moved on and so should we, in my opinion. I believe Danny Wilson is currently putting together a young, vibrant, refreshing squad of players and I'm enjoying watching them.
MASSIVE AND TOTAL AGREEMENT my big friend we have a long way to go, we are showing promise. Right now we are in the top six.. a promotion hopefull place, will it last. For me as long as we do not flirt with the drop zone I will be happy... we are a work in progress. The way football is in these days I will be happy even if we end up as a Yo Yo champ/L 1 side. The way that football has been screwed over by the money men is obscene.
The sooner we got rid of them players the better. Obviously Steele and O'Grady weren't bothered so good luck to them. And as for O'Brien.. He was as bad as Dawson. Move on. This team would walk all over last season's.
I'm still enjoying last Saturday's victory & performance After that I'm looking no further forward than this weekend's game at Yeovil. I've no idea just how good this squad can become, nor how far they'll progress. For now I'm simply enjoying what I'm seeing, I think it's a bit too early for me to be making bold predictions. I'll leave that to others.
Re: you have just identified a nail, and hit it squarely on the head. Non of the them, not even steele and defo not Chris "bench warmer" O'Grady happy with what we have
To be honest I think the majority of us are happy with the current team, it was just an hypothetical question from the OP,
Oh I know, mate. As I said, there were few firm favourites of mine who left this Summer so it'd be quite easy for me to list them. However, I felt the club needed to clear the decks after relegation and had to accept if that meant some of my personal favourites were to leave, so be it. Had we kept any of those listed, we'd probably not have been able to afford to sign some of the lads who needed a transfer (or loan) fee to be paid. Nor is it likely we'd have been able to bring in the experienced players we have. Just my opinion.
Yep, those are all that I would want back, although I couldn't guarantee that O'Grady would be starting every week.
Liam Lawrence, thought he added some experience and quality to the midfield. Someone who our young midfielders (e.g Abbott, Digby) could have learned from.
Steele and COG would have done well in this league. No idea on the rest. Dropping a league might have improved some of them, just like we have no idea if those who have come in to replace them would do well back in the championship. It's all guessing.
Want back? Its all abart turnover of players and managers on here. A coupla poor games and replace, thats the mentality on here.
I agree. It's what we should have done last time we went down. In 2002 we were a terrible second tier side. Simply dreadful. Why anyone thought the same group of players would be a good 3rd tier side is beyond me. Ditto this time around. Having said that, I would have Ramage back just because I think an old wily centre back would really add a lot to the team, especially in situations where we're defending a 1-0 lead with 5 minutes left.
