Seems to me Cole is getting more "scruffy" goals this season, his positioning and anticipation seems much sharper. For which some credit surely has to go to Jon Stead.
I like Cole and think he doing great but why do you think Jon Stead has helped him get scruffy goals?...just asking
I'm not sure we'll offer a 3 year deal to someone of that age and the others will pay much more. Can't blame him, it'll be a last big deal to set him up.
Because Stead spent a lot of time earlier in the season coaching Cole one-to-one and I'm sure those aspects of his game were specifically mentioned
Thing is, he gave it all in a red shirt, gotta love that. Not disagreeing with you but goals and commitment is everything these days.
Cole has been fantastic this season but we need goals from others too in the run in. McAtee has 6 league goals I think and then Kane 5. Hard to see Cosgrove and Watters contributing many which is why I’d have liked another striker in the window. Phillips finding his scoring boots would help, got quite a few last season but only 2 so far this.
If that’s all we can offer then we need to seriously change our wage structure or pack in the idea of being a championship club
Impossible to compete financially with clubs that have owners bankrolling them or parachute payments though.
If we live more or less within our means then we have a bottom four budget in the Championship. It's as simple as that I'm afraid.
I’m not sure that is as much the case now as it was before covid, with FFP starting to take more effect as well. For example, Stoke were spending all sorts of money, but are now selling Jacob Brown and signing Niall Ennis. If a parachute club come in and offer him silly money as they try and win promotion, then fair play. Not convinced that will happen though. We don’t live within our means now, with the owners having to put their own money in. And we’ve made losses every year for quite a while. If the budget is low, all the more reason to spend it wisely. We currently have about 25 players signed up to play in the first team, and numerous others out on loan. That’s not sustainable. Sometimes it’s more prudent to put £5 on the even money favourite than £1 each on 5 rank outsiders. That’s why I said the wage structure needed reviewing, not the playing budget.

Quality over quantity every time. We have to stop all these daft cheap punts that are now holding us back.
Not a chance at all of Cole being here next season. Even if we go up clubs will offer him three times more than our limit to get him on a free transfer.
I think that's exactly what will happen and it'll be Luton. With 6 of our ex's performing well for them, they know exactly what they're getting, tried and tested. Only way it won't be Luton is if they survive.
Only chance we have of keeping him is if we get promoted. We’re in a good position with him. Every goal now is a bigger move for him. 25 goals is well in sight
