Yeah and I've said that in this thread, that the shorts at Peterbrough could have been called a clash. But I don't see it as a problem and I definitely don't think the socks should be a problem. The Wembley game (v Oxford) was the perfect mix, our red n white and their yellow n navy. I don't know why they have to complicate things.
Exactly. Theres no reason we can't mix and match. Bkack shirts, white shorts. For donkeys years in the past if the opposing home team had white shorts we'd just play in red shirts and black shorts. We all know the reason for most change strips away from home. I just want them to come out and admit it's for a few measly qyid extra at the expense of our identity.
It also angered me many times in previous Lg One seasons, when we'd go away to teams who played in mostly blue n white. For some idiotic reason, we'd wear our yellow n black kit. We even did it away at Leeds once in the Championship, they're in the usual all white with blue trim, and we're in yellow n black yet again. It disappoints me as well when away teams visit us and also wear their away kit for no reason. Cambridge for example, will they wear their Wolves style amber n black kit on Satdy ?.
Like others in this thread I believe we should wear red unless we're away from home against another team that play in red. We then choose a 'change' kit that doesn't clash with the home team's kit. There are many, possibly a majority, who do not adhere to this philosophy. For them we have a home kit (Red) and one or more away kits. They see no problem with us never wearing red away from home. "Why would we wear our home kit away from home?" That seems ridiculous to us Dinosaurs but it's a great example of the power of marketing.
You've got stripe blindness. It's like colour blindness but only manifests itself when the sufferer is presented with a vertical stripe pattern. Watch yourself near picket fences.
Remember once when an away team chose to or maybe were forced to, wear our away shirts against us at Oakwell. It was Port Vale in season '89, and they did us 0-3 in the navy blue Shaw Carpets shirts!!. Has that happened any other time ?.
Ahh yeah I think it was during the Flicker escape act, in season '12-13. And didn't our players come over and throw all the shirts to our fans, which might have annoyed C.Palace in case they wanted them back lol.
Wasn't our original league strip blue and white stripes, or brown and cream? Loughborough town turned up with the same strip in Jan 1899 so we changed to red that day and trounced them 9-0. And we stayed with red ever since.
