Why can't dogs live as long as people?

Hey Jack, and Jamdrop, and all the other dog/pet owners on here.
Have you ever watched the Youtube videos of 'Sherpa' the husky dog ?.
He has another husky friend btw, called Key (Key'ush!).
I'm a big fan and I was so saddened to see this video today, that he's had to be put down.
Aww goodness me, it really gets to you doesn't it, even when its not your own dog/pet!.

So sorry for your loss. As a fellow whippet owner I can't even beat the thought that there'll be a time when he's no longer here.
