RE: Yes, but Knight...

That sounds a little hastey there. It's not like we've had him for five seasons is it? You've got two different options to compare this to: the first is Clint Marcelle, who had a flying start for us when he arrived, but over the course of the season became less and less effective. Then you have Michael Chopra who had a very slow start and people were shaking their heads wondering what the fuss was about, until he found his feet and was wonderful. It's great when players arrive and click with the side immediately and continue to play at a highly impressive standard - but it's rare. If it true what has been said and knight has been excluded from training with the squad at Swansea - he needs a bit of time and we ought to give him a little bit of patience. I'm sure if we do he will show some gratitude for that. If we want this player to succeed (and I'm sure we all do), we need to keep off his back and we need to give him plenty of encouragement. If his reputation of being a sensitive and highly strung individual is true he won't respond well to criticism anyway - he'll need encouragement.

I'll go on the record and join Tina in saying I think he is a quality player, I'm glad we've got him, and I'm sure he's better than what we have otherwise.

RE: Playing a guy back to fitness great stuff!

It's a double edge sword. Right now he might be unfit, but if we revive his career and show him that he can establish himself at the club, when he does get fit he is going to reward us with extra committment.

RE: we didn't, we borrowed him

I agree with your sentiment that Barnsley fans rarely give a player a chance - either the player arrives like an Ashley Ward, John Hendrie or a Craig Hignett and set the world on fire, or he is a fair target for criticism. Even players who have given us some excellent performances and years of committment like Steve Agnew and Nicky Eaden can end up getting on the wrong side of the fans. I don't know what it is like at other clubs, but Oakwell can be a very fickle place.
