Why do all the premiership clubs go abroad for training camps?

You hear of plenty of clubs that go to mountain ranges at high altitude, I know Everton went to the Austrian Alps last summer, there's no commercial benefit to going there so it must do the players a lot of good or they wouldn't bother.

I'd much rather the club spent money on this & getting the most out of a group of players than do a half arsed pre-season & then have to waste the same if not more money on loan signings come September.

Footballs come a long way since our premiership squad spent a pre-season in Cornwall getting pissed all afternoon & pissing under the table's in the beer garden.

Probably cost just as much if not more to go somewhere here. #RipOffBritain

I can remember when Barnsley's pre-season training camp was at Carlton on the Wharncliffe Woodmoor sports ground.

The season hasn't even started and already there's people moaning. Makes this board pretty unbearable at times. I like how Kennedy even manages to get a mention.

At this rate it's going to be a long season.

Don't see what folk are whingeing about.

If Danny thinks the trip will be beneficial, then that'll do for me.

Maybe Wilson will bring back a few Serie B defenders with him.

With respect, I think a lot of people have missed the point here.

It's well known that Danny is a huge lover of opera, and the trip means that Danny will still be able to guide our pre-season operations without compromising his annual visit to La Scala.

Surprised this hasn't been picked up.

How can it get any worse when you are used to bird **** seats, Lindleys catering and a poor home record? The only way the matchday experience can go is better.

Because it's likely to be cheaper than going to La Santa Sport.
    Why moan about this?

    A number of points

    1. Italy isn't overly expensive and it's only a 2 hour flight away. It would probably cost as much if not more for a facility here.

    2. It won't mainly be 'last season's shower' that are going, it will be a host of new players. Maybe a foreign trip will help to convince some players we mean business.

    3. I'm sure it won't be a 'holiday' - I'm sure Danny will work them hard.

    4. As folk have said, warm weather training can be beneficial and it is likely to be better over there than here.

    5. It's good that the board has backed the manager by financing such a trip. I assume it was Danny's idea anyway.

    6. The cost will either not be coming out of other budgets, i.e. the owner may be financing it, or Danny believes the cost is worth it, so who are we to disagree when we don't know any details about it?

Perhaps we have a potential Millionaire Italian investor that wants to invest in an English club just like Watford!!!!!! and he has invited the whole team over????
