Labour were in power in power for 13 years. Whenever a political party is in power for that long, the electorate get bored of them and want a change. And to be honest, they'd run out of ideas. Add to that the global financial crisis and it doesn't matter how well they might or might not be doing in other areas, when your country falls in to such a hard recession there's going to be a political change. Then there was Iraq and Afghanistan. We all believed we were taken in to those wars under false pretences and couldn't understand what we'd achieved other than a hell of a lot of lost lives. Plus Tony Blair had stepped down, undoubtedly a complete arse, but a charismatic leader. Gordon Brown was the opposite, a good man, but not Prime Minister material. The surprise wasn't that The Tories gained the most votes, it was that despite all the **** that was going on, they still couldn't gain an overall majority. They couldn't have asked for better conditions going in to a general election, but they still couldn't win outright. The only problem going forward is that many people don't see Ed Milliband as Prime Minister material either. Again, a decent bloke in the wrong job. He'll probably still win the next general election (unless something dramatic happens) as The Tories are now so hated (again) but if his brother had been put in charge it would be the biggest landslide victory in history.
Sorry Red but I just don't see where you are coming from. On one hand you say "I don't care either way though" but you care enough to deny us the use of the pound. Don't you agree that for both countries the sharing of a common currency would help trade links and benefit both parties. Or is this a case of you'd happily cut your nose off to spite your face and to make life that wee bit more difficult for Scotland. This I'm afraid is Cameron's stance but one I'm sure he will back down on.
No offence intended whatsoever Ian, but crack on. Not interested in the slightest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Who's foooking bothered about Scotland..........other than people that have houses up there such as the Queen Its a fooooking horrible country full of people that HATE the English..........it has horrendous weather in the winter...........and is full of mosquitos and ticks in the summer You would have to pay me to have an holiday in that country. Best option would be for them to go independent and then lets have another foooking big wall built between us and them...........followed by passport control
I can see both sides of the independence debate there are both positives and negatives. Emotionally and politically it makes sense economically however you add it up it is at best uncertain at worst very dangerous. I would say if independence is voted for I see it as being very unlikely that Scotland would continue to use the pound. All the serious advice that the government and other political parties are listening to points to this being a worse solution for the rest of the UK than allowing Scotland to default. It would be basically like giving someone a mortgage without even doing a credit check. I
I hope Scots do vote for independence simply because I don't want Labour to get back in and let in 6 million immigrants, start wars and wreck the economy like last time.
And if Scotland has to revert to the Euro and prices shoot up like they have everywhere else that has adopted the Euro, we will likely see big companies in Scotland heading for the exit door, which could mean an influx of jobs in northern England! As I have a Scottish wife, if they do vote for independence it may help when the kids are playing up, as I can threaten them with deportation.
If the sweaty socks. Vote for independence they will be bankrupt within a decade.. They simplying can't afford to pay all of the workshy. Catholics. With out the Englishave subsidies they can't survive
Another **** post from a **** poster. This lot are doing a sterling job right, LMA, I mean Thatcher was all innocent for the Falklands war? The world-wide recession that our Bankers fooked up big time. But let's turn a blind eye and be ignorant about how this Tory-led lot are cutting back back 20% on Labour-controlled coucils, yet Tory controlled ones (in more affluent areas) only get cut-back 10%. ****ing Tories and their apologists (some on here) I fecking hate.
but surely you're going to be over crowded when we deport all the over stayers and economic migrants, mind you on a plus point blackpool will shut
Let's get one thing right. Here the viv Nicholson economic. Policies employed by the previous government. Meant it took a lot longer to recover. Than it should have, the worrying thing is Cameron is now saying money is no object too
I hope Scotland votes yes and removes itself from the ******** of English politics. If you fail, you fail but at least it will be on your own terms. Go green, build your own clean energy, innovate, dream and do something new and exciting that doesn't involve English interefence. The biggest myth is that you can't survive without England. Look at other small countries like Sweden, Norway etc. Great standards of living and social protection. I might not bbe easy but nothing worth doing well ever is. Up the Scots.
Were I Scottish I, too, would vote for independence. There is no logic that I can see where it is better for one country to be ruled by another. Especially when the ruling country is being run by a political party that is practically non existent in the ruled over country. Also, I wouldn't want to be joined to a country that has people spouted the ignorant, intolerant, sectarian bile seen on this and other threads.
He's saying that because it's Tory heartland. Listen, go spoil your ballot at the next election. Until they understand we're not going to keep electing them just because this is our democratic right they'll keep screwing us over. Tory or Labour, same **** different flavour.
Seconded absolutely Big Lil. I didn't reply to him as he is probably the biggest ****er on this board and I have ignored and/or not replied to his posts for a while now.
