RE: correct

Like i said i don't want to get into a debate on this one, as i find the topic upsetting and in view of what's gone on on this site over the last few days i thinks it's better not to.

Freedom of Speech limits???

How far does the freedom of speech principle extend? Does it entitle people to write and say things which cause great distress and upset to other people?

There are several people on here who have bereaved and have lost loved ones through accidents or illness. I'm not one of them. But I'm sure that those people have been greatly upset by recent callous postings about other people's sadness and grief.

This board should uphold the freedom of speech principle, but not to the level where people are allowed to get away with posting vile, callous, insulting comments which appear to be calculated to provoke anger and to start a dispute.

If the board rules do not allow the people doing that to be banned, then the rules should be changed, because they are in my opinion wrong.

Ban them now.

RE: Freedon of Speech limits???

(clap) (clap) (clap) (clap)

Very well put.
I'm sure it was one of those two sickos that posted the joke about Baby P, which was deleted and rightly so.
This proves that site admin can delete threads if they are found to be distasteful.
It makes me cringe to think what a Manchester United or Liverpool supporter would think if they logged in on this site and read what these two had put.

Not my friends at all, I just think that the reaction has been exactly what they wanted; way over the top.

So we have freedom of speach until someone says something you don't like?

That's a very slippery slope.

I don't for one minute endorse what they said, but what are we accusing them of? Insensitivity? In my opinion there's no way they should be banned for that.

It'll be because of this nanny state "they've got human rights even though they're convicted axe murderers and Leeds supporters" society that we live in.

Yep, Freedom of Speech is an important and fundamental right, however like all rights it does include responsibilities. It seems the two aforementioned cretins are unable to accomodate these responsibilites and such do not deserve the right.

Tha sees.
