    That's the Barnsley way!

Still, Connell's new contract means we should at least get a few quid for him.

This is the fundamental point in this ownership where I think they’re all just full of ****! They don’t care about the fans one bit. I never thought I’d say this but I’m loosing the love for my club. It’s one thing after another and they can come out with the odd club statement to try a paper over the cracks what a load of ****. There’s no defending them on this one people need to start opening their eyes. How far have we progressed in their ownership?

Yeah this for me. He’s no world beater but a settled part of the squad that’s been significantly weakened already 2 days before the season starts. Most peculiar

I’m all for calling out the club on some of their wheeling and dealing but I don’t get the meltdown over Norwood. If he’s so good whys he going to Oldham? No offence to them but it’s hardly a move up is it? I’m guessing we didn’t want to extend a year and Oldham offered him some extra security. Let’s see if that frees up some wages for us to get a replacement, either permanently or on loan.

Another good post, abit of a over reaction for me. His last 45 at Wembley was his best in a barnsley shirt.

    "Let's have some perspective"
    Followed by
"His overall play was great most of the time"

    Doesn't really work for me.

Watters and Cole as our first choice strikers all season?

    Can't wait for Saturday.

    Hmm!
One person sees a problem and another sees an opportunity.

I like Norwood, but I can't help thinking he as been manipulative.

I think the general reaction is pretty fair tbh. He offers something that none of our other strikers do, and it has weakened our squad in a key area, with less than 48 hours to kick off. If someone better comes in, fair dos we can discuss that if it happens. But as it stands that isn’t the case. And if we didn’t want to extend him, why did we? Mebbi summat better is coming, but right now it just makes no sense to me at all.

That doesn't mean that we forced him out.

e.g. Peter Paul and Mary who left on a jet plane. They hated to go, but did nevertheless.

It wasn’t 11 in 45 though. He started 29 games.

0.41 goals per each 90 mins.

    So 19 goals per season.

Plus all the experience to pass on and great character, grafter etc

I really don’t understand it at all, its a woeful decision.

    Can't agree really.
11 in 35 if you discount 10 games when he was overweight and unfit. When he got going, he was immense. And quick. And gave defences summat to think about .
The 2nd half at Wembley was immense, but hardly his only cameo.
And as for the other 5 you mention. There is no father figure in there. Nors was one. Cole is good when he's on song, but he's no leader. Watters I'm hoping will be the main man but after talking a good game needs to step up. Jalo still young, Dallas unknown and Shaw 'seems' nowhere near. So who do they look up to?
I'd have kept Nors for the season and sent Shaw out for game time.

Nors offered so much more than "11 in 45"

He got better as last season went on. His fitness at the start of last season was really poor and looked a different player come the end. He’s been our best striker preseason and the only physical threat we have up front. A strong breeze would blow the rest of them over. We’ve messed up big time here in my opinion. Lack of physicality and experience upfront will leave us short. The timing of it couldn’t be any worse why on earth if the club thought they were going to try and get rid did we give him so much game time pre-season none of it make sense. I think he’d of hit the ground running and took his fitness and pre season form into the season something he didn’t do last year.

This really is one of if not the strangest transfer in our history. So for that reason we have to give the club and the player the benefit and respect to explain it. I’m sure there’s a good explanation. I’m not sure what that is, but there has to be a reasonable option for this. He seemed to love his football and love the club here so it doesn’t make any sense.

Fair play to Norwood if he’s got the best deal for him. I’m happy for him and wish him nothing but success. Maybe he’s been offered the same wages and I’d imagine in their league you don’t train every day, so if that’s the case then it’s a no brainer. I really don’t know.

But the club have to have the opportunity to explain this to us before we call them out on it.

    This says it all.

Absolutely justifies my decision why I said nothing had changed despite very nearly joining in again

Good luck next season, and I will once again watch from the sidelines and away games when I can.

The club is on its arse.

To Norwood. If you can manage to find my post in the early days, I made a point of your effort, closing down, speed despite your age, knowing where the net was etc. I think it was in response the the 'bin juice' thread backing you as to what isn't there to like. What an absolute joke. I think you proved a very worthy league one striker. Best wishes and I hope you look back in fondness to the fans who appreciate exactly what you bring to the team. Your very much worthy of a higher place than the bleeding national league
