Don't like him as a person or agree with his political views or otherwise... And he wouldn't be my choice as manager... But he as manager of Swindon he achieved promotion in his first season and took them to FA Trophy final... In a turbulant second season Swindon went into admin. Di Canio offered to personally fund deals for loan players until a buyer for club was found. He is reported to have had a good relationship with Swindon fans and worked through the night with volunteers to clear snow off the pitch to get game on and bought Pizza for volunteers... His relationship with the board broke down when players were sold without his knowledge. And he offered his resignation.

A few months later he joined struggling Premier League Sunderland... He wasn't a popular appointment and the media circus began, highlighting political views and suggesting unrest in the camp e.g. Player falls outs etc. with added media pressure it was only a matter of time. And perhaps a step to far to soon.

As previously stated he would not be my choice but he charismatic, passionate, determination, influential with a winning attitude IMHO could be what we need right now and he did a good job at Swindon... But drama and controversy follows him... I don't think we should be questioning his ability to do the job. Lets get it right question really is do we want to drawn into the media circus that follows both good and bad...?

I will support who ever is appointed... If its Di Canio(which i very much doubt it will be) hold on tight it will be an interesting ride... With ups & downs, filled with thrills & spills...

He did not see his contract out at Swindon so who knows whether he got them up or the people followed him got them through the final tough games.either way not good enough credentials to be considered for bfc job.Sunderland were in honeymoon period and players were good enough if not motivated enough from last regime to pull off the escape.it was the season after when he had full control of p!Ayers comings/goings and moral when things went tits up hardly a glowing reference for our job compared to other candidates out there is it

The Scabs chant didn't seem to be HIS motivational call IMO he was explaining to the players that when the inevitable chant by some fans went out what it meant to Barnsley's history and why and where we've come from.
I seriously think Patrick with his business leanings would not be condoning that chant nor with his custodial tenure of BBC condemn it.
It was IMO a purely an explanational quote.

Di Canio is the reason Sunderland needed a miracle last season and I'd say they still havent recovered from the absolute nightmare he brought to the club in terms of players brought in and morale around the place
