Wikipedia stating DKD signed and is squad no31

I thought Dkd looked pretty poor but he may just have got moody at Mansfield like Cole did for us..

 

Surely they wouldn't play him against a team he is signing for in the next 7 days? That would be madness on all sorts of levels, even we wouldn't do that. Presume we move on and, albeit based on only 1 match, I wouldn't be too bothered.

 

Why wouldn't they mate? Hes contracted to them

 

If we get DKD we still need 2 strikers. Cos he is not a forward and most of the time is deeper than Philips, whom it seems obvious he'd replace. Hard to play them both.

While we're on about similar players, Craig and Connell are two peas in a pod.

Anyway, nobody can run up the middle, and we were thus still often whacking it up hopelessly for Cosgrove to do his Greco-Roman wrestling act. Nothing ever comes of this. Can't remember Mansfield employing that old tired up and under tactic once.

 

Er, get injured for one from both a player and particularly a club level. Where would his head be at playing against and trying to beat his imminent employers?. No way would he have played last night if we are on the verge of signing him. I'm in no way sticking up for Styles but would you risk injury / be bothered to play for your team if you are potentially moving on 24/48/72 hours later. Esp v the team you are likely to sign for. And if Mansfield were risking a potential £500-£750k transfer fee for 1 game? Just don't see it tbh.

 

I was more interested in his reaction when he scored.Seemed a little subdued,perhaps me thinking he is signing for us.

I must admit, I’m surprised to see as many comments on here saying he was poor. I thought the first half he was really involved and moved the ball well and at pace. Not watched it back yet but fairly sure he took the corner that was headed out for the first and slid the ball through to the winger who crossed it for their second. Could be wrong on both counts though, don’t really want to watch the game back if I’m honest.

More attacking players will always go quieter when the team starts to defend their lead and that’s what happened. One way traffic after they went 2-0 up and all their attackers went quiet after that.

If we are comparing like for like, I thought Phillips looked half a yard slow and the press was non existent. Although wasn’t alone in that.

I do agree though in that we really need 2 out and out strikers, rather than another attacking mid. Unless we are going with 1 up top with Phillips and DKD behind the striker. I hope not to be honest. I guess we’ll soon see.
