Well in this case it was too big to leave and get flatter and flatter so I am sure it will have been taken. The small road kills though were an excellent source of scavenging for the big Red Kite population in that area. Best I ever saw was about 5am, in a wooded area, just me on the road and I went slowly round a corner and saw two red kites feasting on a rabbit or something. Got really close up to them before they decided to fly off and let me drive by. Magnificent birds.
I saw two on the canal towpath between Old Royston and Walton. Like some one earlier said - they were small and about the size of big sheep. They saw me coming and slowly and calmly went down the bank to the canal. Dont know if they can swm but as soon as I got to where they were - no sign of them whatsoever.
