Maybe so they got a good point away at villa in wilders 3rd game I think it was when they conceded a late equaliser. But I don't think the players were playing for hecky and I don't think there playing for wilder now. Even Diaz he's a decent player but he's never played in the Prem before and I don't think he's what you want if your a premier league side as a starter.
Fun fact Utd have lost 31 out of the last 40 prem games that wilder has managed so yes I would like United to stay up but Wilder was a poor appointment. Never go back etc. We can’t all cry with jealously about the success of local lads.
I do agree with you on never go back, and wilder been a poor appointment. Hardly did great in his last few jobs. With hecky he did well to get them up even though he had a great squad. Arguably was poor with us in the season we went down and poor at Leeds and hibs. Can't really read much into this season as it was always going to be up against it. If he takes over at Huddersfield which he was heavily linked to if he does bad some will say well there a ***** team it's the players fault etc etc. If he does well he's the messiah.
To be fair, it must be bloody miserable being a Sheff Utd fan this season. I am surprised so many of them are still going. Its just not fun turning up every week knowing you are out of your depth and watching the team get hammered every week. They will be relieved when the season is over.
https://x.com/rowleyonariver/status/1753892677441978738?s=61&t=oi6UkxQucQP_ChLN0xX81A I thought this stat for both Sheffield clubs was quite interesting
I don't think Wilder is the problem . Pep Guardiola couldn't save the Blunts. After selling their best players ,Wilder is just papering over the cracks.
Completely agree. It does seem given the transfer they have made, they're preparing for the championship for next year, which would be the right thing to do. People kept saying Luton would struggle, and possibly dethrone Derby as the worst side ever in the premier league (although personally I don't think that will ever happen?), but I always thought that Sheffield united would be worse off. Selling their best players after promotion, especially given their dodgy form/performances for the last 3rd of the season before promotion, was a sign how much they're struggling financially
However bad Derby were that year....they won one league game..... they still managed to knock Wednesday out of the FA Cup
Burnsley are in real danger again of course, along with Everton and Notts Forest... again!!. And after that awful performance this weekend, C.Palace could be in trouble.
