Loans cost more in the long run don't they? More agents fees more often, less stability, zero chance of getting any money for the player ever. The way I see it if you sign a player they are an asset. If you loan one they are a liability. Common sense says which of those is financially better to spend your money on And if we are so short of money we could always just skip a few of our fleet of 20 year olds we sign and then release every year. In the past 10 years how many players signed 'to the development squad' have made it into the first team?
If they pay a fee and give him 3 years and his attitude stinks you're stuck with a cu'nt and have to replace him while he's still on the books it'll cost um money doing it like this we'd be able to buy him at any point in that 12 months should he prove he's worth it
We've lots of money saved from getting shut of the big expense we had from the Barnsley Player commentary team.....
http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foot...-to-give-in-conor-wilkinson-pursuit-1-7350107 Got to say he sounds like an absolute ******. Been spoilt already by the sounds. Doesn't even want to earn his money.
Signed till Jan. http://mobile.barnsleyfc.co.uk//news/article/reds-land-striker-conor-wilkinson-on-loan.-2538142.aspx
I'll be judging him on the pitch when he's wearing a red shirt. He's got a clean slate with me, not interested in what's gone before.
Whats happened off the pitch? All I've heard is that he's a fantastic young player with plenty of skills and a nice lad to boot.
Welcome to Oakwell, Conor Wilkinson. Can't say this prolonged deal and the nonsense surrounding it has helped at all, with many of us questioning the lads attitude etc, even LJ alluded to that in an interview a while back. But fans who've seen him play suggest he's talented albeit not a goalscorer. Time will tell. Just hope juttyp has it right and there's an agreed transfer in place already, should he be **** hot. Because loaning lads who do well then depart (Drinkwater, Cole) serves no purpose for us, especially at this level.
Yeah, a 20 year old who's achieved nothing in the game yet. He should be jumping at the chance to sign a 3 year deal and play regular football at a club like Barnsley. Instead he's happy to sit on a Championship wage whilst playing league 1 football and then eventually be released.
LJ says on B/player that the deal dint fall down cos Conner wanting too much money, but the fact he's on a 4 year deal at Bolton, and wanted similar security with us. And it was us that would not/could not commit to that..
Find that hard to believe. If he's that good give him a four year deal on league one wages and when/if we get promoted this season we've three years of him on wages linked to the league below.
