RE: best center half we've ever had a the club what do you want from acenter half ?? pesonal preference of course but id love him to a, stop the ball b, win the ball c, stop the player d, after the above think aboit passing it 10 yards to someone who can play footy !
You could do both Show your appreciation to Macca, AND get behind the lads, they're not mutually exclusive you know !
I for 1 would be ashamed if he doesn't Top player and a thouroughly decent man.
Was at school with him and the families still have some contact. Two things that will tell you a lot about the man.
1. Still married to his childhood sweetheart.
2. his last Xmas party was attended not by celebs but by his mates from growing up.

definitely get a smile and clap from our family. a hero of ours in the 70s and early 80s wish we had Ian Evans and wacker now
as you quite rightly posted, Maccer & Evans, not a lot got past them AND they could play.
Met Macca when he he was at Sunderland, I told him I was a reds fan and we got chatting. One of his assistants came in and said they had to be going. He told to 'owd on he was talking', a few minutes later the assistant came again and he said ' av told yer am talking give mi five minutes !!!!' assistant went away sheepishly. We talked for a bit longer and as we parted he shook my hand, and I remember thinking his hands were like colliers shovels.
Great player, thoroughly nice, polite chap.
I for one will applaud him. Once the game starts then it's Barnsley all the way,
but to not show him the respect he deserves, particularly from the ones who saw him play, would be very ill mannered.

I'll applaud him... I'd like to know who these players are that we definetly wanted, as actually made an approach for, and have we ever thought that Macca told the player who wanted him, and the player opted not to come?
He should get a good reception. I'm not old enough to remember him play for Barnsley but from what I've heard from my dad, he was a damn good player. And he's never tried to hide where he's from which I like to see
RE: your dad is spot on !!!! He normally is when it comes to good players... which can be a pain in the bum sometimes.
Of course he should. Anyone who says any different can't have seen him play. Mick was a better player at 17 years old than any of the present defence.
He certainly was and probably still is. He was lucky I suppose to have a manager that only saw his ability not his birth certificate.
RE: Why should I? so massively proud he's never been near the place since leaving. Still deluded I see.
