So do you believe that jobs currently paying £5.73 ph would be paying £9 or £10 if it wasn't for the minimum wage? I'm willing to bet they'd be paying nearer £3.73
everyone can do what they want if they want it hard enough? Sorry, that's just total rubbish, not everyone is dealt the same hand in life and there's only so much wealthout there to go round.
RE: I think we have reached the point of fundamental disagreement. You were accusing people of taking things to extremes to be emotive - you've just done the exact same thing
RE: So who is to blame there? Even though it may have touched you more than most The Ragged Trousered Philantropists is a work of fiction, nothing more, I reckon it's about time you stopped mentioning it in every post you make defending your socialism because it has become as meaningless and predictable as *Windy's "Fascist Hegemony" description of Islam that cropped up every time that subject reared its head.
Of course! But I still don't see how the Government is responsible for the fact that your employer has (seemingly) used the NMW legislation to cut/devalue your wage? It is your employer and a strong union would have surely fought this as they are doing so in Leeds! What you are actually saying is the NMW should be raised. Or everyone should be paid the same!
To my recollection I have mentioned it twice! Hardly predictable is it? Of course I know it is fiction, fiction written to get a message across. The bible is fiction but it does not stop people quoting it or believing it!
One of the original entries on the list of people I'd like to slap with a wet fish! Daniel Hannan is the latest addition
There are: 32 Tory millionaire MPs. David Cameron has 19 millionaires serving in his Shadow Cabinet. 26 Labour millionaire MPs 3 Lib-Dem millionaire MPs Not much between them really.
further to that Cameron himself has aristocratic blood but Osbourne will, upon the death of his father inherit the Baronetcy of Ballentaylor. This is defunct as in Ireland but shows his family have been inheriting power for centuries. Also there is viscount in the commons for the Tories since he no longer automatically sits in the lords he was elected but any suggestion their make-up in terms of wealth has changed is far from true.
Erm.. Politics is a rich mans game, however the tories have over twice as many millionaires and no doubt if you totted up the personal wealth of the parties MP's the tories would be some way ahead of the others. Any fecker that supports the tories and earns less than a hundred grand a year are ill informed or just plain stupid. Current state of the partiesState of the parties at 24 July 2009 Labour 349, 26 millionaires, 7.5% Conservative 193, 32 millionaires, 16.5% Liberal Democrat 63, 3 millionaires, 4.7%
