I've not seen enough to decide but he's highly rated. Showed some glimpses of quality in the friendly. Why?
Excellent, it's a lot better when we debate who will fit where rather than how do we make up the number. Competition at last.
Absolutely, we have to have players on the bench who are 'unlucky' not to be in the starting 11. Strength in depth and all that
Completely pointless short term loan that in my opinion only serves to destabilise the squad and holds back our own players development
He certainly will be. And if he impresses he'll be in. My point is that the midfield positions aren't necessarily nailed down to the 4 mentioned above.
People have been crying out for numbers in the squad, now we've too many to the extent that they're pointless? Entitled to your opinion though, I don't agree though. What if we pick up injuries?
If this proves to be true, I'd be extremely happy with the purchase. It does baffle me, though, why folk concentrate on what the lad can't do (in their opinion), as opposed to what he can do. Players aren't brought in for their failings, but their strengths. Williams brings a positivity & energy with his play, a willingness to run beyond the striker, this in itself then brings out the best in Hourihane and Winnall. He's still a young lad and nowhere near his prime, so obviously there'll be parts of his game which needs to be improved. As with all players.
And I totally agree, mate. That's what having a squad is all about, the size of which has been a major gripe with some fans this Summer.
It's seemingly the way it is. Great signing in my opinion, as good as we could hope for. He's going to have weaknesses, let's not forget he's only a young un too.
It's the loan aspect that I disagree with, not signing players. Should we really be signing a small army of loanees in July? Most clubs sign permanent players in July and loans when they need them. If we fill our squad with loans now what do we do when we get injuries in other positions? Last season we had the stupid situation where we had so many loan players that we weren't allowed to use them all. I fear that due to our crazy early fleet we have signed we will find ourselves in the same boat this season too
Will add my well done to LJ for getting him, if it is true. I didn't mean to criticise him in my post yesterday - far from it. I was just commenting on the obsession with getting him back that seems to have been an ever present feature on here ever since he left. Let's give him a chance anyway - hope he hits the ground running and just keeps on getting better. The squad is taking shape - no complaints from me at all.
I think he looked very rusty and unfit when he was here before so I can understand people dwelling on that. What they need to realise is that he's played a handful of games in England, very few above this level and hasn't had the luxury of being consistently part of a team. I think this could be a very very good signing for us. Shame it's only 2 years to be honest, because I am that sure this lad is going to be brilliant once he gets going. Plus, after a nondescript season he will have a point to prove, need to become a first team regular, push his international place and perform week in week out I.e. = Hungry Player. Meets my expectations fully as of now. LJ will hopefully help him develop further.
He did, but that's all it was. Once he was up to speed, then he had a positive influence on the team. Which is why I can't understand or follow the logic of people rushing to judge a player (usually negatively) after the first game, or games.
LJ said on stage with Dearne FM that he's got a niggle and might need an injection. Hoping that he will be fit to play a part against Chesterfield. So we've signed an injured player yet Forte didn't pass a medical injured. One rule for one and one for another?
