There's a difference between a short term injury and a long term chronic condition. You can sign a player with a broken leg he would pass a medical. One with knackered knees won't.

I don't think medicals work like that. Some injuries are o e offs which look to be healing correctly, others can be recurring injuries or ones that aren't healing as they should

Don't forget Pearson is only here for a month, we've agreed a fee with Bolton for long pod, so at any time should we think hyup this kid is worth a 4 year deal that will be made permanent, so come September long pod and Rothwell will be our only loanees, if they add a quality to the team we'd otherwise not have then it's a case of us using the loan system in the correct way and gaining an advantage from it. In the case of long pod he and we know if he's a success he'll be our player come January, I wish all our loans were like that, but in the case of Pearson & Rothwell were getting to watch really good footballers play for our club, I think these are the sort of loans we should be making. It's the big lump from Colchester and injury prone young kids, that I'd be sceptical about but the 3 we've brought in are the right type in my opinion.

According to the official site, Ben Pearson is on loan until January 3rd.

We were crying out for pace and urgency and Williams will provide that. His role last season was, perhaps, a little overstated but I think we could all see the potential there when he gets playing week in and week out and with work on his final decision he will be a top quality player. If we can get a few more in at his level then the season looks brighter. That's not to put pressure on him. He's a young inexperienced player but it's to acknowledge his potential impact.

Where have you read that Pearson is only a month but Rothwell is for 6? Not doubting you're right but I've not seen it stated?

    And long pod? What?

Is that true? I'm unclear what the loan deals actually are.

At the time we got them Radio Shitfield said Pearson was on a one month youth loan and I saw nothing to contradict this until now, but the Rothwell loan was tweeted by MUFC as a loan until 03/01/2016 .

It looks to me like both Pearson and rothwell are youth loans which we have signed for the maximum length of time allowed with Ben going back the day before his 21st birthday (all youth loans must end thencat the very latest) and Rothwell going back on the same day simply to make things simpler and possibly also to attempt to disguise the youth loan aspect

    That's true

You said we wouldn't sign Mawson and we did. Going back a few years, you said we wouldn't sign Hammill and we did. Before that, you said that we wouldn't sign McPhail and you would bare your backside on the town hall steps were he to come to the club. He did and you didn't. Also, you said at the time that any fan who thought we could sign those players knew nothing about the game!:D
I know I know nothing about the game. But you seem to insist on proving to everyone you know nothing!:D

I'm happy to leave such deals to those who are paid to know the rules & regulations. The club say both lads are on loan until January and I believe them.

I know, im agreeing and explaining why the club is cirrect in saying January 3rd as it is the day before Ben's 21st birthday and therefore the day a youth loan must end

I'm not ashamed to admit I know nowt. But at least I admit it. There are some who are convinced they're wise & informed on football, but know exactly the same as me. :D
