Always feel I’m missing out re tennis and Wimbledon, loved playing tennis but can’t watch it for any length of time unless I’m multitasking with an iPad or book.
Was a cracking game/atmosphere mind. Thoroughly enjoyed the match. Surprised to see Goffin is just under 6ft; i thought he's always looked smaller
He supports Kilmarnock though so gets a couple of points back for following a bang average GB footy team
Are foot faults still a thing? As a kid I used to think they were shouting F Off in a posh voice. And where have net cord judges gone? Robinson's Barley Water no longer a partner either. Though I hear the break was cordial. Not like 1976 like last time I watched.
I won’t feel anything as I’m not a big tennis fan. Just like to see an underdog do well when it doesn’t affect my team.
Parents are British same as Murrays so what does it matter where he was born. You don't have to be born here to be British. Funnily enough Lennox Lewis was tarred as being Canadian despite being born in London.
Did our fans ever take to Greg Rusedski, because I think he was also born in Canada ?. Im not a fan of the game but it gets me interested when its the Wimbledon tournament.
Well the female final today is interesting with a Russian born, Moscow living woman in there. For all the daft rules they brought in there is still technically a Russian in the final. All she's done is change nationality for better opportunities such as with funding like lots of Tennis players who play under the British flag have done.
Technically she is Kazahkstani as that is her nationality. I know nothing about her reasons for not being Russian though but it’s quite a few years since she started representing them so clearly not a sudden switch to sidestep the current Russian political situation
Good final was that. Before Barty won in three sets last year, nine of the previous ten were straight sets. Kate Middleton in her Ukraine yellow dress presenting a Russian born Russian living champion the trophy Russia Today as the media propaganda are going to be all over it. Glad she won though as it made a mockery of banning people on nationality grounds.
