To go down like that must be gutting, i felt bad for sheff utd today. All the same see you at oakwell next year!
RE: Yes Len yes there's a nice little fort. I can pick you up a little model if you want, with some ickle soldiers and baddies. Err... take it easy with the stella fella
Dunno why But that conjured up images of Michael Bentine's Potty Time. Showing my age now. And probably my lack of sobriety.
Seeing Morgs at the end Must have summed it up, Webber hitting the post, we never came anything like close to staying up, to go so close and miss i cant imagine how bad it is. As long as the club continues to run how it did before and during the prem im sure you will be fine in the long run. A example to other clubs, ours included on how success is built.
In my Uni days in the early 90's we had a guy in the year above me who was simply known to everyone as 'Blades'. I remember seeing him in the college bar on the day they went down on the last day of the season in one of those seasons (94?) and he was one of the most forlorn looking figures I've ever seen. He was simply inconsolable, and only the others among us who followed our teams with similar passion could understand why. For various reasons I've never felt anything like the same level of emnity for Sheffield United as I do for Wednesday or Leeds (or clubs such as ManUre, Birmingham City and Wolves). I was rooting for Wigan and Man United victories today, hoping that both sets of fans at Bramall Lane would be celebrating. Given the saga with West Ham and their transfers/punishment it just feels like justice didn't get done today (although since when has football ever been a game where the 'right thing' happens?) The sad (but proud) sight of Morgan at the end was another reason for me not to want celebrate the outcome (I'm somewhat puzzled by those gloating over him personally, given his service to The Reds). I'm glad we've got two more local derbies next season, but its not the outcome I was hoping for. At the end of the game I thought about Blades (the fan from Uni) and wondered where he was nowadays and whether he will react any differently to today's result as he did then (I hope so, for his sake). Bladeforlife has always been a good sport on this board from what I've read from him and I can't imagine a Wednesday or Leeds fan posting on here in the same way as he does, for example. Despite the closer proximity of the clubs in mileage terms I just can't celebrate today's relegation in the same way as I joyously celebrated the Leeds one a couple of weeks ago. Chin up mate. I don't know you from Adam but I felt your pain today, and it didn't bring me any pleasure to witness it. I still hope we stuff you next season though!
RE: Yes Len Ahh yes. The resort to cheap jibes about drinking habits. Very parochial Len. And all this to cover up the intense bitterness and sour grapes over Tevez and West Ham. Will you be in court to lend your considerable support for such an embarrassing venture? I wonder. Face the facts. Warnock is the archetypal spoilt brat of South Yorkshire. A Godhead? Hardly matey. More like an overblown buffoon with a big mouth that has very little of any interest to say. He'll be gone by Christmas, mark my words. The blunts will have to let him go after his predictable and persistant diatribes at the referees et al, have made your best beloved club a true laughing stock. How many of your 'top' players do you think you'll keep for next seasons campaign? I suspect very few, not that you had too many mind you, even for a real 'big' cliub. But any talent you did have will drain away like blood from a stuck pig. I'll be intersted to see just how many crossed-cutlass-kissing, 'always-been-a-blades-fan' superstars will be keen on a day out at Sunny Scunny - we'll see eh? Perhaps if you'd have spent les time on here with your piss-poor attempts to wind people up, your obvious talent for 'clever' writing may have inspired a player or two to put that extra 1% in and make a difference. But that, you'll never know. Enjoy your holiday mate, see you next season. They'll be bragging rights a plenty to be had I'm sure. Cheers, Dave
RE: To go down like that must be Do you really think he'd have been as magnanimous as you if we'd have been 2 divisions apart this afternoon? Think again.
