Its given some of the young lads a little bit of game time. Think LJ would have given them more had we not had 2 defeats on the bounce. The win will have put a bit of wind back in our sails, so overall not a total waste of time in my opinion.
I want us to go all out to win it and don't understand anyone who doesn't. Success breeds success and imagine the boost someone like George Smith would get from playing at Wembley.
I was there last night and consequently would have been bothered if we'd lost. As it happened we won, it was a decent night of football and at the very least we go into the weekend with a confidence boost having won our last game. That can only be a good thing can't it?
For the record the OP was a sarcastic post. I'd like us to win this competition, even if it ultimately has an impact on our league resource. Don't recall us actually winning owt in my lifetime (probably wrong), promotion via a play-off doesn't count, even if they do give you a trophy for it.
Last time we won owt was 60 years ago. Division 3 North in 1955. You don't look 60 so I'm guessing it was before you were born. We also won Division 3 North in '34 and '39. We've never been Champions of one the divisions that actually exists. And, of course, we won the cup in 1912.
Finally your detailed research indicates I was right. Had to happen some time. You're also correct regarding my age, I'm 59.
