What abuse did he actually get? Weren't most of it aimed at Hill for picking him over Stones at RB or over Foster at CB? Don't think I've ever abused a player directly, I've criticised a few on certain performances but I don't tag them in it. Seems a bit pointless to me, all it does is mess there confidence up even more
Happened a few times over the years though. Kennedy got the same treatment and so did Eaden towards the end. All full backs...coincidence? Wonder if it is the same at all football clubs and we just don't realize it as why would we. Players who stroll around the pitch like its all too much effort for them, but have the ability to do something good every now and again come in for far less flack from fans than the ones who give everything they have got, but just clearly aren't good enough (I'm not putting Eaden in that category before by the way!)
I witnessed fans slating him at the touchline quite regular towards the end with some nasty stuff getting said. He was getting booed when he got the ball by some fans and he also got abused on facebook/twitter
Or you could not say anything at all. Crime? Seriously? Why should he care about what 'fans' from an ex-club do want and don't want to hear. The same 'fans' that hurled abuse at him from pretty much start to finish during his time here. The same 'fans' that couldn't wait to get shut of him. Should he have lied to keep you happy? I don't get all this hate players receive from fans. It's not their fault that you deem them to be not good enough. Hurling abuse at them is only going to make them play worse, not better.
