Going with some Millwall mates but will probably insist we drink a bit further afield in case my attempts at a neutral accent fail...
And how long will it take us to pick a manager to get bedded in? It'll take us months to sift through the poor quality of applicants then we'll start approaching targets who,ll take an age to make up their mind to milk the publicity and make other teams who they'd like to manage take notice before very politely declining the job and we therefore appoint Micky Mellon cos the players love him
I lived there for a couple of years so I'm generally alright though I did once nearly get ****ted after being mistaken for a Leeds fan. Can you imagine the embarrassment.
Making the wrong appointment and having managers and board members year after year talk about '50 points' even when we've been in the top half of the season at the time. That's what's been the problem.
I for one thought we were doomed and quite rightly Flicker became the Manager in the summer. The problem is the feel good factor evaporated like a bowl of water in the Sahara after some of the early drubbings at the start of the season. He has had plenty of time to turn thinks round but tactically he has made mistakes and continues to make them. Players who are out of there depth are still selected on a regular basis and he appears to have his favourites who can do no wrong and are selected week in week out regardless of how poor they play. Managers stand and fall by results on the field. Our results have been dreadful. The last few games we must win for me. We haven't though and still remain in the relegation zone. If we keep things as they are that's where we will remain i'm afraid.
Was it really flicker who turned us around in the new year or was it Mickey Mellon? I am having huge doubts about the former lately.....
I don't think yesterday's game resembled Hill's last in charge by a long stretch. For me, he's got quite a bit of time left. The next two games are winnable - the two at the start of December I think we'll struggle to take anything from (Brighton A & Burnley A). If things go badly in the next few it could all come down to the Yeovil game but looking at the team, and the players available for selection, Flicker really is backed into a corner to a certain extent. I'm not sure anyone would be picking a different side at the moment so IMO we certainly need to persevere for the next month. I'd definitely like to see RNL & Digby closer to the action and other than that maybe we should adopt a 4-2-3-1 formation like a lot of teams do - we've certainly got the players for it and could be worth a go if results don't change.
Cos flicker was probably floundering when put in temporary charge early in the new year hence bringing in Mellon and Scott. Since getting the job permanently he may think he's billy big ****** and is trying his own brand of footy, cherry picking just some of mellons ideas as opposed to just listening/doing them early this year. Just a thought like..... :/
I think most people would pick a different team tbh. 2 defensive mfs at home would be the most apparent change that many would do differently. Keeping our strikers more central would be another tactical change.
